Why not try for a job as a civilian employee working in an aide station or something like that? It's not like you won't see any action - there's no front over there - and you'd be supporting the war effort, if that's what you want.

I'm sure they could use some kind of civilian help; but I doubt you'd be able to actually enlist at your age. Concentrate on making the best of it.

Why not go to the local recruiting office and ask them? Even if they don't let you enlist, they might be able to provide info on how you can apply for a job as a civilian.

And even if you wind up working stateside, you'll still be supporting the military agenda more than most people do.

Regulation now states that you can join at 42 with prior service. If you have prior service you can deduct that time from your age and then you must be able to have enough time to reach retirement by 60. In your case you would have to had a lot of prior service. If you would like to help your country join a State Guard or Defense Force., it is voluntary and helps your state when their National Guard units are away or need help during a crisis.

This applies to the US ARMY
the answer is NO
The current enlistment age was 35 then it was raised to near 40. Just recently the age was raised to 42. It "may" be possible if you are qualified in a specialized field like Medicine but very unlikely.

I believe the max age for the army is now 39 (don't quote me). If you have prior service they use a constructive age...that is they subtract the number of years you served from your actual age. Sorry...i don't think you'd make it...I'm in the same boat. I guess we just sit back in our rockers and wait for the invasion.

since it is not possible to join the military you should join a private security force, like black water, who operates in iraq. pretty damn decent pay and you get to live in the wonderful world of iraq
