Welll may be many of em are fence sitters without actually realizing it.
Others come to make fun, scorn, ridicule religion, well that's their poison.
So let em be! Maybe this is where they just could find God?

So you're saying... that the "freedom of speech" concept is bunk in this case... because YOU don't visit sections that YOU don't care about? How does THAT make sense?!
I may not be religious, but religion still effects my life every day whether I want it to or not. It's the same with politics, kiddo. A person can be completely oblivious to the goings on of the political arena and STILL be effected by them daily. In fact, it's an unfortunate truth that religion and politics are INTERMINGLING and, as a result, effecting my life. THAT matters to me greatly.
I don't have to BE my husband to care about what happens to him. I don't have to BE a member of a sports team to care about how well they've been playing. I don't have to BE a gay person in order to care about gay rights. You get the point, yes?
Now... if there was some sort of requirement... if there were guidelines... if there was a RULE... stating that only BELIEVERS of whatever sort were allowed to participate in this section, then maybe I'd find another place to be, but as it ONLY says "Religion & Spirituality" and NOT "Religion & Spirituality EXCLUSIVELY for the Religious & Spiritual", I'd say that I have every reason to be here if I feel I'm qualified, capable and willing to answer questions pertaining to the general subject of Religion & Spirituality.
And NO, this section isn't JUST for people to "ask questions about the bible and other religions".

Said it before, will say it again. First, serious and specific questions, e.g. 'How do I interpret this verse' or 'What's the story behind this practice', do tend to get good answers, albeit scattered among the types of answers you'd expect from a site frequented by children and the similarly immature.
Second, questions posted here are both quantitative and qualitative. Non-believers and people of faith both come here looking for answers about a viewpoint they don't understand, as well as further knowledge from those whose viewpoint they do. Yahoo does not provide a separate forum for atheists, humanists, and the like, nor should they, given the inevitable overlap in these areas of inquiry. That does beg the question, that if such a forum was provided, would you, as a Christian, feel any constraint in answering the questions there? For that matter, why don't you post your questions in the Christianity section, rather than here in an area intended for people of all beliefs? If what you are looking for is the reassurance of a community of like-minded people, rather than a genuine interchange of ideas and information, may I suggest that you seek your comfort elsewhere? I suspect you'd be happier, if not particularly wiser.

Many of us non-believers got this way by studying religion; I myself have a year of Bible College. This is not a church where people are expected to all have the same beliefs, if that's what you're looking for, perhaps a Bible study group would be more appropriate,
As my personal rights are being diminishing and the Religious Right blurs the separation between church and state, religion becomes a political issue. If the believers in this country kept their religion in church and displayed their faith through the way they lived their lives instead of trying to legislate morality, most of us unbelievers wouldn't care, but when Christians try to force their beliefs on me, I take offense.
America has become a theocracy, something the Founding Fathers never intended, and as a good American, it is my right and my duty to speak out against it.

I'm sure there's a lot of things you don't understand, but I'll help you out on this one. This is called Yahoo Answers; it is a forum for asking and answering questions, it isn't a "site for religion" as you put it. It is for discussion of "religion & spirituality" issues. Interesting that you see the word "religion" and automatically assume it means pro-religion. While I don't "care about God" or even believe in him, I do care deeply about the adverse affects of religion on my country, and that is as valid a topic for discussion under the heading of "religion & spirituality" as I can think of. And, since that "freedom of speech story" still pertains even if you don't happen to like it, I am free to oppose the bigots and know-nothings that are here to spew Christian propaganda.

"when you're literally not a Christian, why waste a even as on the religious web site..." Ummmm....yoo hoo....hint--there ARE different religions as well Christianity. i'm devoutly religious yet I actual have in no way been a Christian. Do you recognize how insulting this sentence is? Do you even care? You whinge about others being serious of your faith yet you submit a question that's insulting and impolite to different religions, by using pretending they don't exist. What gave you the idea that "faith & Spirituality" skill "solely Christian"? There received't be more beneficial Christians on the following than non-Christians, yet there are more beneficial those who matter on gods on the following than who disbelieve in the existence in gods. maximum human beings each body is religious, in basic terms perhaps not your certain form of religion. both way, how bout if we attempt to be well mannered and informative ourselves and in no way difficulty about those who received't be?

The forum is for discussion OF religion and spirituality NOT discussion BY religious or spiritual people.
While this should serve as distinction enough ... there are also many possessing a very thorough knowledge of religions, not just Christianity, whom are non-religious themselves.

There is no such thing as a nonbeliever: everyone believes in something, even if it is evolution they are still believers
What is it with Christians calling all others non believers?
If you can't stand to read what other people who believe differently then you on the internet, then get off and go to church to be led by your shepard

I don't care about god.
I care about you. You have been decived by others into denying reality. This is how dictators(and the like) controll others and get them to do things that are horrid acts against humanity.
I also care about me. I do not want to live in a country that I am forced to agree with a religion. So I do what I can to prevent our secular country from being controlled by any religion.

Religion and Spiritutality.
I am not religious but I am spiritual. In the old sense of the word. To breath, love life, to live life.
Debate and thought is part of that for me.

Well intelligent people like to discuss things, religion is a part of our culture, no matter what you believe. I find literature interesting and yet I am not a writer, I find history interesting and I am not historian, I find science interesting and I am not a scientist, and I find religion interesting and I am not religious, I find Greek mythology interesting and I don't believe in those Gods either.
