The only small red bugs I can think of are chiggers. And If you have those in your bed, you really need to clean your house.

The bugs must be Harvest mite (Chiggers).
Symptoms
Severe itching
Red pimple-like bumps (papules) or hives
Skin rash or lesion on sun-exposed area only
Red
With itching
Skin rash or lesion with visible larva in the center of lesions.

My freind, they're bedbugs, and they are sweeping the nation.
Be prepared for a long fight. Wash everything, clean out junk, perhaps even replace furniture... consult a reputable exterminator.

Clean your furniture with kerosene oil or put insecticide powder and leave all mattresses, cushions etc. in the sun for several hours.
