i had sciatica when i was pregnant. what i found that helped were exercises from the "what to expect when you're expecting" book. you get down on all fours and alternate from "cat back" and "cow back" positions, holding each position for about a minute. cat back: you arch your back like that infamous halloween cat. cow back: arched in the opposite direction of the cat back. i would do the exercises when i woke up in the morning (and from my nap). and in the evening before i went to bed.

About a year ago, my boyfriend was having sciatica in his left butt cheek down to his his calf muscle. He started going to the Chiropractor and he did actually help him! He doesn't seem to have any issues with his sciatica anymore. Most likely, you have a pinched nerve between your vertibrae. X-rays at the chiropractor will show exactly where the issue is.

Potassium supplements have helped some people - but high potassium intakes should be monitored by a doctor (pg 48 in Dr Whitaker's Guide to Natural Healing). Five to eight grams were needed by the patient in the article. Don't take that much on your own!
Some people with sciatica have gotten relief from drinking monavie juice.

some types of therapy are said to help. And sometimes surgery. Be careful about agreeing to surgery because it isn't always successful and (as in my case) can definitely make things worse. A lot of people are living in chronic pain and taking pain pills as the only effective way to help,so look around a lot and make careful decisions. good luck.

I don't know if this would work in your case,but talk to your primary care doc. about pain management with a T.E.N.S Unit.

Anti inflammatory. Ibuprofen or aspirin. Better yet, go see your physician. I get that quite often, time and drugs help.
