also im looking for something that works with windows media 10. btw, im not wanting to rip. ripping will just put the files onto my pc. what im wanting to do is a direct copy of the cd onto another disk but reformatting the files into flac format . is there any software capable of doing this? btw, the wilipedia link gave me a buttload of different options of things to download. id like to hear from someone that actually does what im looking for, not someone who thinks someone might work.

first, microsoft makes it very difficult for other formats to work in windows media player.

second, "ripping" is the process of reading audio off a CD and storing it in a file in some format. I don't think microsoft has made it possible to rip directly to FLAC in windows media player.

you can use another program like EAC or CDex to rip to FLAC. if you are set on also playing music with WMP then you will have to do extra work to make it play FLAC because, again, microsoft has not made it easy.
