It would be unwise give you a list of OTC items that can be used as "recreational" drugs.
However, behaviour, signs and symptoms to look out for are as follows :
Change in friends / Hanging out with a new group.
Long, unexplained absences
Seclusive behaviour/Avoidance behaviour
Lying and stealing
Decrease in school performance
Changes in attitude or behaviour
Deteriorating family relationships
Tracks of needle marks
Dilated pupils
Restlessness
Euphoria
Hyperactivity
Slurred speech
Decreased attention span
Impaired judgement
Disabled co-ordination

Well sniffing glue or similar stuff is a very well known technique. Of course you can make meth using over the counter stuff too, but nowadays states are banning the sale of large quantities of the cold medicines which are the key ingredients. On the other hand if you are just faking to be a mom and in fact you are just trying to get high in a cheap and easy way, my best advice is don't. Meth is very addictive and harmful and sniffing will make you very very dumb. Cannabis might be the most harmless way to get high after all but even that I would not recommend.

Read the backs of any medications you have in your house or ask a medical professional. Do you believe your son is getting high on OTC drugs?
He'll seem dazed quite often, either sloth-like or weirdly hyper. If you think he has a problem, you should take him to the hospital to get his stomach pumped and then have him sent to detox. He needs counseling. Ask a doctor for further advice.

Just look under your sink. They can (and do) sniff just about anything. That is one reason ordinary model air plane glue went off the market. It isn't a case of "what" can cause a "hi". It is being a loving, caring parent that has an open line of communication with your child(s) and is aware of changes in attitude, mood and physical signs, such as "glassy" eyes etc. and getting on top of it quickly.

Our police and sheriff give talks about these things. I suggest you call the police department, the number in the phone book, not 911, and ask if they have any handouts that would help you. You could also visit a police station and ask.
I commend you for being concerned. Good luck and I hope you find nothing to worry about.

I nhaling from a bag is common. Glue and paint thinner are favorites. Other volatile products containing such toxic products as acetone or benzene are not uncommon.
