You are now old enough to start seeing the way of the real world. Right now it is your parents. If you go to college, it will be your professors. When you get a job, it will be you immediate supervisors and bosses. It seems like there is always someone complaining and making us do things that we do not think is fair.

Learn to take things in the best light possible. And remember what you have gone through so that if you become a parent, a teacher or a boss, that you do not make the same mistakes.

Parents get to set the house rules. You're lucky with the computer--some families limit the time to a half hour. The sagging pants aren't cool--this "fashion" originated with gangs and prisons. Besides, no one wants to see your underwear! I don't understand how you can walk in pants hanging down with the crouch down to your knees. Be glad your Mom has time to do things with you. Most are too busy. In about 20 years, you'll appreciate those moments. You should give a good night hug and good bye kiss (the kiss possibly out of the view of your friends, though!). Your parents love you. Your parents want you to develop healthy eating habits instead of destroying your body with junk food. Be glad they listen to what you say. They will understand it from an adult perspective and not the perspective of an 11 year old. They have been around for a while and have seen a lot. Just remember that your parents want what's best for you. If they give you chores to do, just do them. You'll waste far more energy trying to get out of doing them than if you had done the chores in the first place. You'll need to do many more mundane chores when you become an adult anyway (like paying bills, making doctor's appointments, having your car serviced, filing your income taxes), in addition to doing the dishes, cleaning your room, and mowing the lawn. Plus, don't you feel better about yourself when you have a clean, organized room?

First of all, wow, you've got quite a list! Sounds like you have everything figured out, and that's a good thing. It's good you have a distinct view of the world around you instead of this hazy 'I don't like my parents' sort of attitude!
Second, how old are you? Can't really get a full picture if I don't know your age! But yeah, I guess you might find doing everything with your mom a little much.
Third, it sounds like your parents are good, respectable, proper people and want you to be a compliment to their image and social standing. That's why they think you're not dressed 'proper', want you to eat healthy food (which, by the way is good for you!) and give them a kiss goodnight. Don't judge them too hard. When you become a parent yourself you might understand a little better.
Which brings me to my last point and that is, it's been a long time since they were your age. No offense, you know, but people forget what it was like. When they think back on their younger years, they remember how it was like back then. That may also be part of the reason why they listen but don't understand. (Aren't you glad they listen though??)
Tell them how you feel. Listen to how they feel. Negotiate. Compromise. Cut them a little slack. Things might get better. They might get worse. Either way, you will have missed out by not trying. If nothing else works, grin and bear it. When you grow up, you'll be free to make your own way in life. Until then...

Believe it or not, your parents love you very much. That's the reason for rules and even punishments. They are trying to instill in you a healthy respect for yourself and others. They are also trying to help guide through this part of you life so you make it to the rest of it as a fairly normal adult. It may seem like they "just don't get it" or don't understand you, but I'll tell you a secret... they understand more than you know and they are trying to protect you from it. They see a bigger picture of the things that happen out in the world and they want to shield you from the bad things. They worry every day and every minute you are out in the world alone and they will do this for the rest of their lives. Even when they know you are capable and responsible, they will wonder if you have eaten, if you are ok and where you might be. Try not to be to hard on them even when it seems you are speaking different languages... they do what they do out of love and protection. And one day you will miss it so bad it will tear at your heart and bring tears to your eyes.

Sounds like you have amazing parents who love you deeply. Be appreciative of that, many children do not have the luxuries you have, parents who make sure they are loved and taken care of and ones that only want the best for you. Besides you may not think it now but when you are older ... you will see it. Promise. It also hits you harder when you are the parent, you will see how right they were.
