Read your bible for yourself! Jesus did away with the 'middle man' ( the priest) when he became our advocate!! He is who we go to now for the forgiveness of sins!! No one can forgive sins except Jesus! Not the priest, not Mary, or anyone else!! You can pray to him directly. There is nothing he won't forgive you of. Get a Holy Bible, and read the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John first. I have asked Jesus to forgive me of some horrible things that I have done in my past, and I meant it when I said it. I had no intention of ever doing those things again, and he helped me not to!! Call on Jesus, and he will hear you! Be sincere, and ask God to change your life, and to give you a new heart!! I'll be praying for you.....

They can forgive ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Jesus is the only one who can forgive our sins and you do not need any man to ask for you. After putting your faith in Christ and repenting (turning from) your sins, He will act as your mediator before God. But none of this will work unless you first recognize your sin nature and then turn from the old life and ask Christ into your heart to forgive you. You cannot change on your own, but He can and will change you from the inside out. He will renew your mind and give you new desires. I hope this answers your question. If you need any more information then let me know.

Priests do not forgive...God forgives. The priest is a human who hears your sins and acts as a counselor..advises through prayer how to seek forgiveness.

Yes, for sure, because they are the biggest believers in forgiveness. After all, this is what was one of Jesus' main messages to people. Priests are impartial, but caring.

its not up to the priest. It's is up to you and God. The priest just acts as a go-between. The only unforgivable sin is suicide, because then you can't ask for forgiveness.

If one is a baptized Catholic in good standing with the church, and 1) truly sorry for sins, and 2) has a firm intention to mend his ways, and 3) nothing exists that would prevent it, yes.

you have to believe in Jesus and in God...he forgives you...the priest helps you in human sense...and gives you pennance to make things right...Jesus does forgive for all things. Reading your questions I really think you need to talk to someone...its not right to obsesse like you are over who you are obsessing over...you need help

In the Word of God, "Jesus tells us specifically not to confess our sin to man because man cannot save you or forgive you only Jesus can.
