This isn't really an answer to your question, just an anecdote. A few years ago I worked in a bakery/cafe. The owner used to bake a lot of the pastries we sold in her own home kitchen, which, looking back, was probably against the law! She had a really obnoxious, unfriendly little King Charles spaniel--I love dogs, but I disliked this one. Every so often, a customer would bring a plate of peach cobbler or something back complaining that there was a dog hair in it. It was embarrassing and maddening, because I was just the counter staff and the dog hair wasn't my fault! Of course, I always gave them their money back, and politely. But God, I hated that spaniel.

If I was at home I could throw the hair away and continue eating as it would probably belong to me. However if I was eating out I would send it back to the kitchen and complain, if they were unaware of hairs in their food then I would dread to think what else could be lurking there.

I have no real problems here, although I would tend to remove the hair ensuring staff are aware of what I'm doing - then contiue finishing up my food.
And I would ask for a reduction in the bill for my inconvenience, while presenting the offending article to cashier, and if no reduction is made, arrange an interview with the local newspaper journalist by asking the Manager to contact them for me.

Kids birthday party. Twenty years ago. Father of birthday boy found a hair on the cake they got from a bakery. Threw cake into the yard for the dog to eat. Kids bawling. Birthday ruined. True story. have a nice day.

Why not applying to anything that does not belong to that dish? A spider or a fly, for example. Anyway you think of it it makes you puke and screw your dinner or your going out for a meal. And having your own hair in your food is also extremely unpleasant. It makes me trow the food, too.

Awwwwwwwwwwe....Throw it out!
Hands down....I think I would just start GAGGING....I would have EVERYBODY in the joint tossing their veggies up. Trust me.
Push the dish as far away from you as possible, remain seated and ask for something else........or money back.
(You don't have any idea who's hair that could be), what if they have LICE... just ate a bug. Think about it.
I was in the airport with my back to the lady in the kitchen, my friend was watching her...and got this LOOK on her face that scared me to death...meanwhile the waitress brings my sandwich, she said........NOooooooooooo don't eat that. She was licking her fingers in the kitchen, while making your plate.
Miss.........tequila please..and the check.

If unintentionally, your own hair was dropping in your newly prepared soup, just pick it out and continue to eat it.But,if for example, you see someone's hair dropping in,just change the plate.Talking about hygiene, anything out of the ingredient, must throw away.
