The U.S. Flag is always "flown" with the stars forward, or to the flag's own right. Since the U.S. Flag is sewn on the right sleeve of U.S. personnel, the stars are to the front of the uniform.

On all service members uniforms the flag will be worn stars forward to symbolize forward motion, never back.

the flag on our uniform is sewn on as heading into battle if looked at from the side veiw

Two answers.
The wind is blowing in the opposite direction (backward?)
So you can see them clearly in your rear view mirror when they are chasing after you for asking this question.
