The future of humanity is utter destruction. We have young people now who don't care about the world and the shape it is in. And these same people are going to be leading our country in the future. Uh, let me rephrase, MASS DESTRUCTION AND CHAOS.

Science and medicine are making amazing advances and the average lifespan in developed countries increases every year. With nanotechnology, robotics, artificial intelligence, and genetic engineering, breakthroughs are occuring that will change what it means to be human.

Cyborgs are already among us. Pacemakers and ear implants seem innocuous, but they are only the first stages. Soon robotic limb replacements and brain implants will be common. They have already been tested.

Before humans are changed too much by technology, I fully expect the religious elements of the world to rebel. It's a lot easier to demonize and kill someone that looks like a machine, even if it is only partially.

Fortunately, the first space elevator should also be created sometime in the near future. That would finally truly open space to human exploration. Whether that will happen before the religious hordes get their hands on enough technology to end the world is hard to say.

Iran starting their nuclear reactor yesterday was not a good sign. If al-Qaida gets a few nuclear weapons, there will be no stopping them. When Western society is faced with the prospect of nuclear weapons being detonated in their largest cities every few years, I expect a lot of people with enough money will use the new space elevators to colonize the moon and Mars.

You may think this is all science fiction. Right now, it is. That's my specialty. However, the communicators and computers of Star Trek were once scifi as well. Though they were set in the distant future, they have been far surpased with the cell phones and computers of today. Just because it is scifi now, that doesn't mean it won't happen. In a few years, remember that I warned you.

The future of Humanity looks bleak because of idiots like GWB who have the power and the motivation to bring on the end times. If George Dubya believes, as he does, in biblical prophesy and all the worlds armies will gather to do battle etc. etc. before the second coming, then he will continue to poke the ant's nest with a stick until this occurs. Unfortunately the rest of us will become the victims of his stupidity.

Good question! Hopefully, someday soon, we will realize that we have limited resources on this planet, and will start using alternative energy sources, conserving, recycling, and limiting overpopulation. Eventually, we might learn to live together without war or violence, and work together to make the earth a beautiful place.
In reality, we will probably get into a nuclear war, which will cause earthwide disasters and destroy the human race.
I'm wishing for the former, and hoping I'm not around for the latter :)

If oil prices and rents continue to go up and the salaries continue to stay the same, then the future does not look good.

For the ones who follow God and accept His sacrifice made by grace, there's eternal life. Someday, Jesus will come to rescue His faithful children.
