The thing is... Christ died for YOU, His beard was ripped out for YOU...why wouldn't Christ get the FIRSTFRUITS of your income. It has been my experience that if ytou put the Lord FIRST in your life (IN EVERYTHING) He WILL bless you. And you will be able to make payments on other things...WHAT?? Is the extra slices of cheese more important than the Lord? The car payment (new car? Can't do with used?) your VISA, M/C, more important than Christ? Man what is your priority?
Give the Lord what belongs to Him... all the Bible asks is 10%. It didn't ask for 80%...
Figure out your priorities....
If you are hooped with too much debt... God knows you are a wicked sinner, He knows you screwed up... so pay the Lord FIRST, sell some of the vain crap that will not accompany you to the grave, pay off some of your debt and pray God helps you recover from this so you can get your priorities in order... He will NOT let you down!!

The thing is, tithes come off the top of whatever income you have. It's the first thing you pay, it's not extra money. I know what it's like to have all the bills due, struggling to make ends meet with a child and needing more than your check provides. God doesn't need our money, he owns everything already. But paying tithes is an opportunity to abide by God's direct command to do so, and in return giving Him an opportunity to bless us and help our faith grow. You can't afford NOT to pay them. The bible tells us in Proverbs 12:24 that the diligent hand will bear rule. If you are dedicated to keeping God's word and trusting Him to be your provider no matter what the situation looks like to your natural eye, then He will take care of you EVERY time. Be encouraged and read Malachi 3.

Malachi 3:10 (Whole Chapter)
Bring all the tithes (the whole tenth of your income) into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now by it, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. [Mal 2:2 ]

that's when you walk by faith. When my daughter was younger she was in girl scouts and did the cookie sale. There was alot going on with the troop leader, she wasn't trust worthy, and took the money from the cookie sales, leaving alot of people stuck with paying the money back to girl scouts. How in the world was I to pay back $357 that my daughter made in cookie sales? I heard before about sowing a seed and repeaping a harvest. So I took my chance. I took all the money I had, $200 and gave it to the small church I was attending as tithes. I didn't put my name on the envelope. I told God I was trusting him to provide me with the money or an answer. I was hoping that the dept would be erased. At work 2 days later this man I know walked up to me where I work and handed me $357 in cash. This is a true story!God did say that his people shall live by faith. Trust him to provide you with what your needs are, if you worship him first with the sacrifice of tithes.

Sounds like you need to look through all your bills again and reorganize and prioritize them. We all have bills. But do we really need topay $100 a month for a cell phone, internet access and 200 channel TV? My TV bill is $10.62 each month and I pay $19.95 for internet. NO cell phone, don't really need one. Do we really need name-brand clothes and shoes? I shop at thrift shops and rummage sales and dollar stores. Once in a blue moon I shop at K-Mart or Target. So we really need a brand new car? etc, etc. I am on disability and receive a $1300 check each month. I give $8 a wk to my church. I have a son. We live within our means and many would say we have nothing but we have a lot. I am running out of run to put stuff. Then I give extras to the church or thrift stores, Salvation Army. I consider that part of tithing as well.

There are several issues at hand here.
1. We live under grace, not the law. What ever we do, we should do to the glory of God. Because of what God has done for us, it should be our pleasure to return to him the first fruits of the blessings He has allowed us. God loves a cheerful giver.
2. In reference to #1, the money we give to God is not EXTRA money. That implies that you put God last on your list when he should be first. You can always find some way to spend extra money. With that rationale you may never have enough left over to give.
3. Maybe you are living beyond your means. I know we all want nice things for our children and ourselves. However, we need to teach them self restraint and financial responsibility. Honestly, this is an issue in my house even now.

I know you cannot make changes immediately that will correct your issues. However, maybe you could evaluate your spending habits and make changes that your family can live with.

Well, first of all your life sucks if you never get to go out and do anything, buy any new clothes, eat out, go to or rent a movie or anything else like that. From a financial standpoint (outside of religion) most people would tell you that you are leaving beyond your means and you either need to cut back in some areas or generate more income. From a religious standpoint, I'm not sure totally. Be open with your finances, have everything in a spreadsheet and worked out and talk to someone at church about your financial life and how its effecting your ability to tithe and have any financial flexibility or freedoms.

I don't think anything will "Happen", but I do know the bible says to pay your tithes first.
I know sometimes it's very hard to make ends meat, but I think you will find the money will go a long way when you pay your tithes.
There have been times when I didn't have money, then I found a ten dollar bill in my wallet. Well I gave it as donation in a offering and then I received $20.00 back. God works that way.
Trust Him.

you will go to hell.

ok not really.

but it sounds like you have been made to feel guilty about not "paying"

tithes is part of the mosaic law...we are not bound by that law.

but if you feel like you have to give your money and that you are bound by this law...here is what you have to do.

move from you house to a smaller one. buy lower quality groceries. get less insurance. use even less power, water, and gas. you should not have had a child if it was going to cost you money you knew belonged to your church.

do you see how that is just not what god wants of you???

but it does sound like you dont know how to manage your money. take a class to better manage your finances becuase spending your check before you receive it is not how you want to live.

oh , if you still think you have to tithe, you have to take the class becuase god will not forgive you for not doing ALL that you could have done.

i hope you see the irony in what im saying.

I'm going to tell you. Your not going to like the answer tho.

10% is NOT God's money. God's only wants 10% of the 100% He allowed you to have to begin with. What am saying? When God, owns the sheep, He owns the wool too.

God Desires Your Success
1 Samuel 15:22
God wants you to be successful. This does not mean He has an automatic plan for you to become rich or famous, although either of these may be included in His ultimate design for your life.
God's idea of success begins at the Cross where Jesus died. Success is not measured by what you do in life or what you gain financially. Your love and devotion to Jesus Christ measure your success.
In 1 Samuel 15, we read how Saul decided he would offer a sacrifice that only God's anointed priest was commissioned to offer. Since Samuel was not present, Saul felt justified in his actions and made the sacrifice himself.
This one act of disobedience cost Saul the kingdom. Here is a lesson we need to learn if we are going to be successful. God anoints certain people to do certain things. He has placed leaders in our lives for a reason. If we want to lead, we must first learn to follow.
If you fail to submit to your God-given authority, then success from God's perspective will be difficult to achieve.
A successful person has learned humility to the point that he no longer thinks about whether he has gained it or not.
We are called to do the will of God, but this only can be done at the feet of Christ.

The Bible tells you very clear not to be bound by bondage. When a person is in debt up to they're eyes, what did they just do? They are in bondage to someone for money. That is exactly what Jesus freed us from, was bondage.

Hope this helps.

When you go to a gambling web site, you have to make a deposit before they let you play. They make sure they have the money before they let you gamble with it. But if by some weird sequence of events you ended up owing them money, there is nothing they can do. They are based offshore and the last thing they want to do is get the media attention of a high profile court case.
