We rarely use the term pop or soda in Texas. All soft drinks are referred to as cokes.

A soft drink = any carbonated consumable beverage. - California. Generally called Soda here. In KS/MO its called "Pop" and in areas of TX everything is "Coke" even if its not a Coca-Cola at all.

I was born and raised in Texas. I always say soft drink or use the name such as coke, pepsi, sprite etc. If I had to choose your way, I would say soda. My aunt from Kansas always says pop and it sounds so funny to me because I'm just not used to that.
