I'm not looking for opinions on whether this Gospel is valid or not, I just want to know what you consider to be the best translation and why.

Probably Coptic. That way no one outside Egypt or various academics could read it.

What does it matter if the translation is better than another? Is a white lie different than any other lie? God told us not to add to his Word. The 'gospel' of Thomas is definitely an addition!!

the new york times book review and the christian science monitor seem to like, "beyond belief: the secret gospel of thomas", by elaine pagels.

I like the translation from the Lord Jesus Christ.....
"And Jesus answered and said to them: 'Take heed that no one deceives you'"
