Because our real identity is that we are eternal spirit souls not the illusory material body which is maya, we belong in the spiritual realm, the after-life, which is Sat-Cit-Ananda full of eternality, knowledge & bliss, whereas the material realm, the current life is temporary, perveded with ignorance & full of suffering.

They do not like the thought of not existing. They are so arrogant that they want to live for ever. Once they accept an after life they stop careing what happens in this life as long as they get their after life.

Because Life is on average 70-80 years, It kind of pales in comparison to Eternity.

because the afterlife most in america believe in is filled with extremes, either fire or paradise.
also i think most pppl are more interested in present life, just not when they are discussing religion
and to other ppl about to answer, plz dont give this guy crap because he speaks poor english, his name is hindu and based on his typing he seems like hes from that part of the world
