OK, the best thing you can do is ask the bar your in what there wells consist of? Every bar is different for example I own a bar and I put all of my puckers in the same price group as my wells, but the bar down the street considers it a call liqueur. The basic well is Gin, Vodka, Rum, Tequila, and Triple sec with a few mixers so anything you can make with those you know you'll be safe. Most bars will also include certain mixers like peach schnapps, peppermint schnapps, Glaros ouzo, butterscotch schnapps, and Raspberry schnapps so some drinks that should fall into well would be buttery nipples, sex on the beach, jolly ranchers, fuzzy navels, grasshoppers, screwdrivers, etc...

RE:
What are good well drinks?
I was at a bar and I find that well drinks are always on happy hour but I dont know that many well drinks. I tried to search a list of well drinks on the internet but nothing really came up except the easy ones like "Rum & Coke", "Gin & Tonic", "screwdriver". I just wanted a list of well drinks so...

Let me help you out before you embarrass yourself at a bar. A "well" drink refers to the cheaper, house versions of liquors. The opposite is a "call" drink, where you specify a brand. For example, if you ordered Absolute on the rocks, that's a call drink. If you just order a "vodka" on the rocks, that is a well drink, and you will receive the cheaper, house vodka. It holds true for gins, rums, etc. If you aren't particular about the brand, then go with a well version(especially recommended for mixed drinks with flavored and sweet mixes. Juices, sodas and tropical drinks, for example.)

There are many well drinks at your disposal, Most drinks can be well drinks if you don't ask for a brand name alcohol. Here are a few more drink names; salty dog ( grapefruit juice and vodka), 7up and (vodka whiskey gin rum), vodka Collins, boiler maker, sea breeze, box cars, margarita or rob roy. These can be made with well alcohol.

Try an Amaretto Sour. I use to get that when I drank, but I don't know if it is considered a well drink at the happy hour place. It is really good.

ugh.. I'd stick with beer if you're trying to stay cheaper .. Anything you're getting on happy hour on special is all the cheapest liquor they have in the bar. If you're gonna get something like that, though, I'd get cranberry and vodka or pineapple and vodka.. you can't taste the booze as much as the other ones.

I'm a whiskey man myself, so I'd recommend whiskey and water, if you're talking well drinks (since it's usually a lower-grade whiskey). Personally, I would go for scotch and water or bourbon and water rather than just a regular whiskey and water.
