If you play with fire you get burnt! You already know the answer! As soon as you taste beer of any kind, it will lead you to do more. Why test the limits when you already know the outcome?

I'm a recovering alcoholic, too. The people I go to meetings with seem to be split on this topic. I think if you can handle drinking it, if it isn't a "trigger" for you, and keeps you from drinking the real stuff, by all means, endulge... But if you are early in recovery, I wouldn't chance it.

Myself, I wouldn't do it. It's like allowing myself little permissions. Relapse sucks. I've done it more times than I can count. If I give myself any little permissions - something as minimal as a little white lie to a co-worker about how her butt REALLY looks in that skirt to something like a fake beer, it always leads to downfall... Besides, why waste the money on non-alcoholic beer? It tastes like cat pee and you aren't getting buzzed so why waste the $4.00 a bottle? Get a soda... Get some coffee... $1.95 and free refills. you can't go wrong!

Good luck. You are the only one who can answer that question for YOU. No one knows you and your recovery like you do. If staying sober is the most important thing in your life, why chance it? Every relapse is worse than the one before... And every relapse is harder to recover from... Eventually you might not recover... :(

what you choose to ingest is an outside issue.

i know a few of the hundred men and women who have recovered from a seemingly hopeless state of mind and body who choose to ingest the non-alcoholic brewskis.

the problem with the term non-alcoholic is that it is not a true statement, at least for the one label that i have read. there is alcohol in it. a very small amount, but it's still alcohol.

and if an alcoholic is a real alcoholic or one of the hopeless variety, i wouldn't suggest it.

it's kinda like asking a cocaine addict if it's okay to snort a dime bag if it's cut with 3x' the amount of baking soda. just doesn't seem like the safest thing to do for recovery.

but then again, we are not arbiters of other peoples conduct.

NO! If you are serious about your recovery drinking a so called non-alcoholic beverage( which by the way there is no such thing it dose contain alcohol) would put you on the fast road to relapse and possibly in a worse state than when you realized of your alcoholism.Remember it is a progressive disease it never goes away you just learn to manage it

Unless you started drinking beer for the "refreshing, zesty flavor" to begin with, your motive for wanting to taste it would be sentimental.

Anyone who has ever been on the losing end of any relationship knows, that nothing good happens when you get sentimental over a jerk who makes you feel bad.

It is a good idea if you still go to bars and hang around with your drinking buddies.

If you've gotten smart and left all of that behind, the nonalcoholic beer could just make you want a real one.

When I had to wean myself off Pepsi, I had to learn to like water. It's best if you can cultivate a taste for water.

GOT MILK???? Bless your heart!! You are one in a million! A strong, brave person with real will power! I was married to two alcoholics, and they both died. One at age 41, and one at age 61. It was so sad, and so senseless! They would both be alive today if it wasn't for booze. Have strength and stay away from it all. Good Luck, and God bless you!

No. Avoid all kinds of related drinks. Pretty soon you will graduate again to the real thing.

I wouldn't think so, the mind is a pretty powerful thing and your mind will tell you that you are having a real beer..... I wouldn't chance it!
