The bible tells us to go out in the the highways and hedges and COMPELL them to come in!! It doesn't say wait on them, and when they are ready they will find you!! The world is dying around us (spiritually) and some of us are too afraid of what others might think or say if we even mention the name of Jesus!! Can you count how many times you had the opportunity to witness for Christ, and let that chance slip away? How many times today? Yesterday? We need to stop being afraid, and ask God for holy boldness, and just do it!! Jesus said (I'm paraphrasing)...if you are embarassed of me, I'll be embarrassed of you in front of my father. I want to walk worthy of Jesus' great sacrifice for me!! Lord, please make me an instrument and use me for your glory to bring my sisters and brothers into this great way of salvation!!

I think it takes more guts to say something, but if you know that person wants to talk, then it can be simple and natural. Why do we always try to make it so hard to just talk about what we believe? Yes, we're called to witness and share the Truth of Christ's death on the cross in our place...shouldn't that just be something we live out in front of people so that they'll see a difference and want to know why? Then when they ask, just be ready...Paul says to make the most of every opportunity and to let our converations always be full of grace, seasoned with salt, so we know how to answer everyone. Easier said than said, right?

Why do people call it witnessing?

And I don't understand why you would keep quiet when someone wants to talk about god...?

To believers in God, we are called to witness to others. Especially ones that have questions. Just make sure you give the truth according to God, not your own interpretations.

To not talk to Him would be a sin! After we are forgiven we should share that wonderful messege! It takes more than guts to witness, it takes faith! Peace! :)

Witnessing of course. Keeping silent does no good to anyone.

witnessing, because your speaking your inner feelings, giving the other person rights to challenge you. So study to show yourself approved of what you know

What a load of crap. You are the one who wants to talk. Your friend wants a little piece and quiet and the ability to get a word in edgewise.
It is probably going to take a whole lot more restraint than you have just to shut up.

those who believe in Christ are called to share the gospel with all that enter into it.

The Great Commission
16Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Guts? Has nothing to do with it.

Which level of faith and obedience does a person have to do either one?

.Good Question.
