Seven Simple Steps...
Our government is misleading and lying to us. The reality is that illegal immigration could be simply stopped for little money. We simply need to remove all incentives for them to come here illegally and they will self-deport.
1. Remove all social programs to illegals. No medical (except in emergencies to ship them home), no welfare, no food stamps, no anything.
2. Stop the anchor baby laws.
3. Fine or jail employers who do not register and pay taxes on all employees. This includes day laborers.
4. No more schooling for illegals. It costs about $10,000 per kid per year. Why are we paying for their education?
5. Tell all illegals that they can either leave peacefully or they will be removed. Those that are caught here after the grace period will face deportation and will NEVER be allowed into this country again for any reason.
6. Make all illegals caught here work on the border fence before they are deported.
7. Make English THE language for this country. No more printing every government form in multiple languages. No translators paid by the government. No requirement that the police be able to speak spanish.
The money we would save in taxes from the costs these people place on us will easily pay for any increases in the price of a head of lettuce.

Damn right, the problem is that our politicians are too chicken **** to do anything about it, because the legal/voting family members of illegal aliens may not vote for them if they do.
The "anchor baby" thing really chapps my hide!!! I don't think that you should be able to be called a "citizen" until you're 18, unless one of your parents were born here. Meanwhile all of our schools are filling with non-english speaking immigrant children. Their parents make no effort to learn the language either, so the whole class has to slow down so these poor kids can catch up. All the while sucking our government dry of funding, that could be used to help legal citizens.
As for the minimum wage jobs, WHAT THE HELL are the welfare recipients doing all day? My family didn't get any government aid when we came to the country. We were fed through Ellis Island and sent out across the country to find work. End welfare, for everyone. Everybody, go get a job, pick oranges if you have to! Get some self respect, no more freeloaders!!!
Thanks,
2nd generation american

Do What? There are two sides to hear some people the illegals should be allowed to stay they are only taking jobs no one wants to do Then there are the others who say Enough is Enough no more waving another countrys' flag while demanding rights to stay while the government systems are being run dry But when was the last war fought on USA soil? Well that should tell you that nothing from the American people will ever be done (the government has us working too hard everyday to pay taxes and put higher and higher fuel prices in our autos)

First step is, communicate with your representation, well the people that claim to be your representation, at any rate. Voice your displeasure with the way that immigration is being handled, do so clearly, civilly, politely, professionally etc.
Then, see what your city council has to say about it. Typically they're really bright people, have a lot of good ideas, if you get a chance to talk, speak up and express your views.
You can do other things, call in to radio shows, write your local paper, and if you're feeling really motivated, then check out what citizen's groups are doing. The Minutemen feature in the immigration debate, and a lot of what they do is speak and try and raise public awareness about the problem, they also have volunteers that go out on the border itself to watch for illegal migration across our border with Mexico, if you're feeling really really really motivated, and you think you'd like to do the job, you could even apply with the U.S. Border Patrol.
But, it starts with writing, like what you see here. There's a lot of good ideas in this forum alone on how the problem should be handled, starting with basic enforcement concepts, building the border fence out completely, enhancing the US Border Patrol,
same for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement service,
getting local ordinances passed in your city and state laws too expressly prohibiting the hiring or harboring etc. of illegal aliens,
denial of access to free benefits etc., that's all the kind of thing that has to be put down on paper and passed into law. Then, those laws have to be enforced. So, support your local police department, too, because they have to deal with all of this first-hand.
It's all a matter, though, of seeing the laws enforced as they largely stand on the books today. If you read that any of your state legislators etc. are taking positions in opposition to that law, be sure to write them, and express your discontent. Vox Populi still has the capacity to get these guys n gals to listen, so use yours freely and express the urgency and necessity of having immigration laws properly enforced. The more they hear from the public on this, the more they'll be inclined to do about it. Write today, let em know how you feel about it.

Excellent question.
The answer must be something like when the pot boils over. Legal citizens of all stripes will have to come to the realization that our country is headed for Third World status if the flood of aliens (Once known as 'outlaws') across our borders remains unplugged.

Bush just signed some papers opening up our borders. Neo-Cons say Bush sold out America. They claim that this will help terrorist's. And if you think illegal immigration is bad now, wait until the borders are officially opened by Bush.
But don't take my word for it. Click on this REPUBLICAN CONSERVATIVE magazine article that proves it. http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=14965

Hmmmm, well, many cities and towns are passing laws, then there are of course the minutemen and other similar groups. The house of Representatives seems to want to do something. there is stuff happening. It just takes time to organize such a massive under-taking.

Not until after the election. The House IS doing something, though. They are fillibustering the Senate Bill with hearings, and more power to them, say I.

Sounds like you`re a little jealous brother. You better get off the couch and do something your self before they get your stamps & checks. Or are you worried they`ll send you back to Africa if you do? It looks to me like you`re one of the "everyone" talking about it STEP-UP!
