Is an animal or person classified as roadkill if they are run over by a car when they arent on a road?

I do not know but I am listeing to Sleater-Kinney Tapping, they are good check them out


I looked it up on dictionary.con and this is the def:

An animal or animals killed by being struck by a motor vehicle.

So I guess it has nothing to do with the road
