These days most of my work colleagues are using "Best" as their email sign-off.

See you at the meeting.
Best,
Joe Schmoe

"Thanks" and "Sincerely" and "Regards" all seem so humdrum. So overused. And "Cheers" seems inappropriate.

Can anyone recommend a new, original, polite sign-off that would be appropriate for business emails?

Thank you!!

I really don't know how many emails you send a day.... but I send approx 50+... and I no longer put anything else.. but my initials. Unless someone has really helped me out, then I let them know I appreciate them.

As far as business emails going outside the office, it depends on what kind of business you're in... if it is too professional... then you would most likely want to stick to the oldies but goodies. G' Luck.

At my job some people sign off on emails with "ttyl" (talk to you later). I don't put anything but my name. "See you at the meeting" Mary. I see no need for a salutation everytime I write an email and some of the people I work with I would like to say "FO", but you know how that goes....LOL......

You could take something from one of my (heterosexual male) friends:

"Joseph Fiennes is sexier than Alfred Molina, and Alfred Molina is one sexy fat Mexican."

New? O mais oui.

Original? Indeed.

Polite? Abolustely.

Appropriate for business? Maybe not so much.

its not original if someone recommends it to you! think something up yourself that you may find yourself saying a lot at the end of conversations. turn it a little more formal, and there you go! and its all urs!
