I could go on and on with the answer to that question. The first thing that comes to mind is that the Bible is not an Encyclopedia, or a Science paper. One of the main purposes of the Bible is to reveal the true nature of God to us, it's not designed to proove anything scientific, so it's not fair to argue against the Bible as a scientific paper.
There is one part of the Bible where God ridicules Job's friends for being "know it alls" and there are some amazing questions that God asks that shows that he knows all and we don't know squat. It's toward the end of Job.
It's not there to be scrutinized by geologists, archeologists. It was written in the spirit of truth, goodness. You can see the goodness in what the Bible says about Jesus, so you believe that. If you saw the goodness of the story of Adam and Eve you might believe that too. The story of Adam and Eve is the story about how God gave us the free will to choose good and evil. God forbade Adam from eating the forbidden fruit, but God allowed Adam to make the choice to disobey God. This freedom to choose is a concept that is part of the goodness of God, and answers questions about why there is evil, and suffering, and why God will not intervene? God is waiting until the right time to intervene. Adam sinned, and Jesus was the Second Adam, and Jesus corrected what Adam did by dying for our sins. Now this whole bit about the age of the earth is really insignificant when you see the meaning of the story of Adam and Eve, and the other doubts like how did Eve come from Adam's rib. God is outside of time, and outside of all limits and restrictions. He can do whatever he wants however he wants, and his ways confound our limited minds. When you start seeing things his way, then things open up and you can see the bigger picture, and these stories don't seem so silly. I hope it helps, because that's a big question that I've asked, and thought about alot. We weren't there when it happened, so any measuring device or physical logic cannot apply. This is my perspective.
And let me ask you? Is it not true that the story of Adam and Eve truthfully reveals the nature of God, and Man?
Email me if you have more questions.

Yeah you can see it as a nice story about god trying to teach us a lesson, but now about how life started. It does not really make sense with all we know about biology. I think of it as many christians do who know a great deal about science. This all was so complex how the world works and how it started off that someone must have started us all off. It was not an adam and eve thing however it just does not work with the dinosaurs. We can still believe in god and jesus that works. People may hate me for this, but we have to trick outselves to belive in the garden, but not god or jesus. We have to have faith for god and jesus was a real person. We have 3 major relgions believing in a god. and many others believing in a higher power independent of another. There is something really powerful about that. No you are just an intelligent person trying to make sense of things. Whatever you believe is not bad. Being horrible to others is bad.

No, it shows you are logical. There is not enough time between genealogy in chronicles and kings for all of us to adapt the ways we have (in other words 5,000 years of adaptation will not bring one people totally black and the other totally white with red hair) so you are on the right track, but don't use the bible as a total answer book, remember that god couldn't explain anything to Moses on a scientific level.. Could you imagine the conversation... You know bacteria moses? No.... Oh ok, well you know apes right.... no.... OK..... Well I just created all of you in seven days and you were on the seventh day... it is just an allegory, (I am not a Judea follower by the way) and the allegory along with Deuteronomy and all of its laws have been proven to be taken from the time of Hammurabi and the first civilization in Modern day Baghdad (Mesopotamia) So, just remember that the deeper you delve the more your faith in the perfection of the bible will be questioned. If you want to remain blissful remain ignorant, if you ask the wrong questions it will take you to a path of confusion, which is where I am. Good question

If the Adam and Eve theory is true to its word... maybe thats why a large part of humanity is acting with such stupidity, like killing one another over who is right or wrong... and the victor of the killing spree gets awarded with "you are right" which ironically doesnt make it right at all.
Why? Oh...well, with all the in-breeding going on, sooner or later some form of genetic mutation is bound to happen... and the brain doesnt develop properly hence, the stupidity mutationn. Even animals don't kill each other for pride and ego... goes to show how intelligent some of the human lifeforms have evolved into... all these is assuming all humans came from only Adam and Eve. In-breeding, quickest way to species doom? lol

It's bad if you are a fundamentalist. If you are a Catholic you realize that while the story of Creation contained in Genesis is the truth, it might be the truth communicated in a poetic and symbolic manner.
Catholics do believe:
1) That God created the universe and all things
2) That man is created in the image of God
3) Even if man's body evolved, God still created man, because he created the process of evolution, and his prividence guided it to give rise to the human race
4) Whatever the origin of man's bodily form, his soul is a special creation of God; it is not the result of an evolutionary process.
5) Our original parents were created in a state of perfect happines, a state of "holiness and justice"
6) Their obedience was tested and they transgressed the divine law at the prompting of the devil.
7) They lost the supernatural gifts given to the human race by God at creation.
8) This state of original sin was passed on to their offspring.
9) They were promised a redeemer who would restore mankind's relationship with God.
Catholics are free to believe the world is 6,000 years old or 6 billion years old. It still does not change the truth of Creation as revealed in Genesis.

I feel like the "Adam and Eve" story was created and told to explain, unexplainable facts. Like why men and women are so different. I too believe in God. To me, the Bible is a Holy History Book. But I try to keep in mind that many parts have been writen and edited over and over, for many years,.. by regular humans.

James ~ Asking human beings to question there assumptions, no longer basically use the bible, and to have self belief in Evolution.. makes you a reliable candidate for Catholicism.. for those are all issues that Catholicism has in abundance. Father of Genetics -- Gregory Mendel -- quess what? He grow to be a Catholic Priest besides. Catholicism takes the bible in context, it is that it is a e book of religion and Morals.. no longer technology and not history. what's contained in it.. teaches us approximately faith and morals.. no longer unavoidably literal history. Adam and Eve, Noah, etc. might have actually befell.. perhaps no longer, what does it count.. the secret is what we learn from it approximately faith and Morals. precise? Catholicism additionally teaches that faith isn't transmitted by utilising a e book. Jesus did no longer write a e book, The Apostles did no longer instruct from their books. the religion got here first. The Authority got here 2d. the instructions a third. The e book.. a much off 4th, around the 4th century, as quickly as the religion grow to be already reliable and fairly prepared. So i desire you're no longer insulted, yet your rant surely, in a unusual way, makes you sound very Catholic. perhaps your themes are no longer lots with faith or Christianity, yet fairly the fairly fundamentalist, narrow, us of a variety of Protestantism that maximum individuals think of represents maximum of Christianity.

Whenever a new soul begins to climb mt.Zion it starts at the point it is at.. You have to continue in His word, pray and grow within His will.. When He wants you to gain understanding on the Genesis He will open your eyes to it. It would be wise to refrain from comment against anything in scripture, though it is not unforgivable sin, but better to say, "I just don't know enough about that subject to seriously comment on it.". I have 2 degrees and many minors and every day am more confident in the creation account.. Evolution is the theory of an atheist, Creation is the work of God!

Fundamentalists love to keep people ignorant so they can't think for themselves. I am Roman Catholic and was told that I am to make up my own mind about these things & that the miracle of humanity is a miracle, whether we descended from single cell organisms (as I believe) or in the Adam & Eve story.
