I just spent $600 on a 1995 white 4 door Dodge Neon! the only thing wrong with it is the AC does not work ,but I rather spend a few hundred bucks on getting the AC fix then paying thousands to get a new car. Plus I wont have a monthly note. You think that I did the right thing.

There are so many hidden costs to owning used cars. On a vehicle that's over 10 years old, it is not even a maybe, but a guarantee that you will continually have to do repair work. I currently own a 98 vehicle and a 92 vehicle, both of which need frequent repairs.

Having said that, new cars are very expensive and if you can't afford it, then you can't afford it. You can get by just fine with used ones, and $600 is pretty darn cheap. I've only ever bought used cars, and I do honestly think that they are cheaper in the long run as long as you're willing to accept that they're not going to be as nice as new ones.

Sure! While it is 11 years old, so you might end up putting some money into it, newer cars can need repairs too. I've never in my life had a car loan! One car that I bought for $400 ran so well that the relative who sold it to me regretted it when her newer car kept needing repairs! Another thing to consider, besides just age, is how many miles the car has on it. Good luck!

Hell Yeah! A vehicle that runs, that is that you can drive away, with all four tires and everything is worth a thousand bucks. You got a steal of a deal and the vehicle is only eleven yrs old that is remarkable take good care of your new buy!

No, for a 1995 and just a messed up a/c system...for 600 dollars..that seems like a great deal.

Yes you did good. You would be in really good shape if you had friends who knew cars. Forget the AC....at that age of car, you need to be prepared for replacing timing belts, catylitic converters, water pumps....all minor but important to the upkeep of your car. Also, if you know someone HVAC certified....they are licensed to charge your cooling system if that's all it needs.....just knowing people and trading work, saves thousands.....you can paint their home, they overhaul your car, etc....

Dodge Neons are bad cars, they have a short life.

that actually is a really good deal. i'm surprised at that price, and you only need like $100-$150 to get the a/c goin good as new. I would go for it!
