if you were on the phone with your spouse and they start yelling at other people (in traffic) or inanimate object because they don't work etc. Would you want them to refrain from cussing because you're on the other end of the line?

Lord, my best friend is a delivery driver, I know exactly how you feel. Every time we talk on the phone while he is at work it's like, "So tonight, about DAMMIT, MOTHERF'ER! 7:30, Jen's coming to WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!!! dinner and she wanted to know....." and so on. It's just annoying! Plus it's so loud when he yells it hurts my ears! Then one day the opportunity came up and I made fun of him about it but I think he got the hint! Though not completely gone, it's not so bad now. I think he realized it.

Ask yourself if this is really the person for you. I don't think what you describe is that bad but if it bothers you that is what is important. Don't discount the way you feel to please others. You should never have to change for anyone or apologize for your thoughts or feelings. So if it bothers you then it is a problem. But everything I stated should also apply to your counterpart as well, so they should not feel ashamed of the cussing or the loss of temper unless something more is at the heart of the matter, in which case they may need to address that other issue.

The use of profane language doesn't particularly bother me, but the interruption in the conversation would. Although, I must say when traffic is bad, or the stupid drivers are out, I do get distracted and yell at traffic. I suppose it all lies in your level of patience.

Yes it would bother me. I wouldn't over react though. I would say something like, are you going to talk to me or should I hang up and let you finish your conversation with the computer (or yell at traffic, whatever). Then I would just say, I'll call back when you're done screaming and ready to talk to me.

I use to have the same problem. My husband isn't an avid curse word user but when he gets road rage, look out! I made it clear to him that if he is going to use that sort of language then he and I will take separate cars from now on and that is not the kind of language i want my children subjected to. So far it has worked.

I would hope that you are comfortable enough with your spouse to let them know that bothers you and tell them to stop. He should also know that you don't like for him to cuss.

I would worry about his/her road rage.Tell the other person to pull off the road and calm down.Definitely don't continue the conservation! They must devote all attention to the traffic. This person should not be on the phone when driving!

Nah, it's always good for entertainment - plus, I would know that my husband is just venting. People vent their frustration in different ways ... it sounds like your spouse does it verbally. If it really bothers you, try telling him so, and give him a good reason why you think he should control it. If it doesn't really bother you, have a laugh on him! :)

Yes, they should be respectful of the fact that you are on the phone. However...if it's just a long blah blah blah conversation with a friend, and he's sitting right next to you...then maybe he (or she) has the right to be a lil ...pissy...
