I've heard there is some significance. I was having a very difficult time dealing with her death and was glad to finally find sleep but then each night I would open my eyes and each time it was exactly 3:00 a.m. and I've always been curious. I had also shortly before my mom's death became a born again Christian.

Well, I do that, too. I'm not sure if it has a connection, but my aunt once told me that, being Christian, it is probably connected to the death of Jesus Christ since he died at about 3:00. Although, that is in the afternoon. That's why Roman Catholics, possibly other Christians, have something called "The Angelus". It's a prayer that Catholics pray (or used to pray) at 3pm to remember how Jesus saved our lives. My aunt also told me that if you wake up around that time, 3 am, you should pray for all those souls who are stuck in purgatory (limbo) or who can't rest in peace because they are asking for it. Perhaps your mom is just asking for a quick prayer.

Could be your inner clock readjusting. It looks like you are looking for a meaning. Maybe for a meaning as to why your mom had to die and why life continues even when we lose loved ones every day. Death is a part of life -- and necessary.
As a born again christian, you will need to talk to your people about that.

Sorry about your mom, but it's nothing but your inner clock. Mine does that often for no apparent reason. I'll wake up at (for example) 7:13 a.m. exactly for 4 or 5 days in a row.

sorry for your mom's death. it could be spiritual connection. most people die around 3am because it's the transition between the yin and yang of the day. maybe because your mom sensed you missed her so much and that could be a sign for her presence. you should pray and ask God to bring her with Him to a better place. it's not good for her to stay in this world. i used to cry day and nite after my grandmother passed away. one day she asked me in my dream not to cry so much for her it's hard for her to leave the world knowing i missed her so much.
there's a time in my life i woke up every night around 4am for approx. 2-3 years. after sometime, a friend of my mom told me that there's a spirit trying to connect with me during these years. and i even dreamt about this spirit many times.

what time did your mother die? 3 is one of Gods very much used numbers in the bible and as 7 and 40. most people die in the early morning hours. when that happens again get on your knees and pray to God and ask Him what does He want you to know by this awake up time and God will show you what that's all about and don't fear Him and bless Him and wait and see what message He has for you...I lost my mother too i hurts a lot and its been 6 years God Bless you and pray love Jesus Freak

i dont think theres a connection though
just something a little funky inside your brain
when i forget to set my alsrm in the morning i usually wake up right around the time when it was set
i think our subconcious is a lot more concious than many ppl think it is
also why do ppl always wake up when you stik your face right in theirs
