The legend is that St Helena visited Jerusalem in the 4th century, found the steps, and had them taken out and shipped back to Rome.

I been there and seen them with my own eyes when I was a catholic living in Rome for 3 years.I'll say if it ayn't in the Bible I can't proove it is true thus I can't say I believe,if it is in the bible than I'll say it is the TRUTH since God's word never mistaken.GOD BLESS!
God's word never mistaken huh? Look up
* The Coucil of Nicea
* The Gospel of Judas
* The 101 clear contradictions in the bible.
Funny, that a god of such clear and unquestionable order lends a scriptor to his most loyal believers that has been edited to an extent unlike any other document in existance to day. For reasons that have been to include making it more believable, using to achieve wealth, dominence, power, control, and sympathy. However no matter what research is done, no matter what evidence is dug up to prove that the original stories of jesus (stories not story as there were hundreds of versions not just the one read about today) have all been altered by different people for different reasons all throughout the last 2000 years. Is is still regarded through blind faith and due to mass brainwashing to be completely omnipotant and the only truth.
The Bible is not simply one book , but a compilation of 66 books, written by more than 40 authors, over a period of 1500 years! For that reason Christians have always maintained that the entire Bible shows the imprint of human hands. Evidence of this can be found in the variety of human languages used, the varying styles of writing, the differences in the author's intellects and temperaments, as well as the apparent allusions to the author's contemporary concepts of scientific knowledge, without which the scriptures would not have been understood by the people of that time. Of course we all know that the earth is mearly a few thousand years old and being the true center of the universe the sun and everything else revolves around us. Of course any apposing view to that lead to being burned alive by the christians for at least 500 years of history. In fact more murder and torture has been commited by christians than by any other sect in all of human history. Three examples to ice the cake:
The crusades,
The inquisition, and last but not least the
Holocaust.
More blood has been spilt in the name of god than for all the greed in history. Reasonably, the only chance that christianity would have had was its gaining popularity through its marders in Rome. Gaining interest because of the contempt held by many of the way Rome treated its citizens and here is a group of people willing to be tortured and murdered all in defiance of the Roman belief. Everyone loves the underdog. After years of this with christians rising because of the path to Roman anarchy and a tale of hope Emperor Constantine left with no other choice but to change Rome over to christianity to save it from civil war. Hence Rome being the center of the known world christianity became its religion. More an interesting mistake than anything devine. We remain many instances in our architechture, our justice and legal system, even the idea of fast food and shopping malls all lead back to Roman time. So why wouldn't christianity remain with us today unquestioned. So in closing, do all of the christians a favor......and crucifiy them all! They can all be one with "their lord" and the rest of us can move on and make the world a better place.

You know, I think you may be right. But we gotta look it up in the Bible to see if it is the truth. Got a pencil?
