...Weeping may endure for a season, but Joy comes in the morning... Psalm 30:4-6
Psalm 23
1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Psalm 27
1The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
2When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
3Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
Hebres 13:5
...and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Read the book of Ruth... Only 4 chapters that'll make you smile quickly... The book of Proverbs is a good one also... Psalms is probably what you're really looking for, though, as it has pretty much the whole range of human emotion in it in different places...
My favorite place when I'm feeling down is Revelation 21:4 - "'And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.'"

The book of Psalms has 150 Psalms, 3 for each day of the month (on the average) and the Book of Proverbs has 31, again, one for each day with a bonus chapter thrown in!
Read Psalms 37 and 103 for the glooms!

There are a lot of great devotioanl books available. I'm reading The Purpose Driven Life right now (well, not RIGHT now) and love it. I also use Closer Walk, which is a daily devotional. My favorite verse when I'm down is Jeremiah 29: 11-13. "For I know the plans I have for you", declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Perhaps you should read this stuff from the Bible, and hopefully you'll never read the Bible again, that way, you are very likely to become happier a lot quicker. Good luck.
God is the greatest mass murderer in history.
References: Genesis 6:11-17 and Genesis 7:11-24
Some examples:
GE 6:13 - And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
GE 6:17 - And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.
Seems to me that God (for you believers) is annoyed with humanity other than his buddy Noah, and decides to kill (murder) every living thing on the face of the earth, except of course Noah and his family - got to have a few friends left.
God allowed women raped and your little children slaughtered.
From God’s so called Bible - Isaiah 13:15-18
“Anyone who is captured will be run through with a sword. Their little children will be dashed to death right before their eyes. Their homes will be sacked and their wives raped by the attacking hordes. For I will stir up the Medes against Babylon, and no amount of silver or gold will buy them off. The attacking armies will shoot down the young people with arrows. They will have no mercy on helpless babies and will show no compassion for the children.”
How any decent person can believe and follow the Bible is beyond imagination, seems like religious people just ignore the bits they dislike and twist the rest into a happy delusion, much like the behaviour of drug addicts.

1 Chronicles 13 is my favorite Bible passage. It's almost poetic.
“If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

Read Philippians, Paul wrote this book of joy, from a prison cell, could there be a more depressing place? Also, Romans 8. I am sure there are more which my brothers and sisters will share. Also, try this sight:

I get devotionals from there (Charles Stanley) and you can download mp3s and pod casts.
When you are depressed, don't look down, look up, your redemption draweth nigh!

I'm sorry; I'm hitting a mental block about a passage of Scripture to help you. But here's a website that I've found very helpful at times like that:

It isn't just quotes; they have lots of uplifting devotionals too.
Blessings to you!
