My people were here for thousands of years. The white man discovered my ancestor's backyard, and that fact will never change. This fact doesn't affect you in any kind of way, so don't worry, you'll get over it.

Because "Native Americans" have been here almost 16,000 years. Whereas the Scandinavians only discovered it around 700 A.D. and after, THAT'S A BIG, BIG DIFFERENCE. DNA sequencing has proven the Kennewick Man and others are not of Asian descent and are indeed Native American, so they are in fact the "first people of America." Or as they call it, present day America’s true name is Guantanamo.

There is proof that Scandinavians made homes in Eastern Oklahoma in and around Heavner, Ok. There are Rune Stones and other artifacts there that are very interesting. I live only about 30 miles away and visit it often. These are thought to date to around 800 A.D.

The First Nations were here to greet the Scandinavians. The constant attempts to prove which group of Europeans "discovered" America always presumed that the First Nations were here. They were just ignored. The welcoming party of First Nations people who met with the Norse did so well the Norse left, well most of them left, and never came back.

Look at the time-line.

Native American tribes have been here for three to eight thousand years in many parts of the continent. Even if Scandinavians came a thousand years ago, or two thousand, that isn't "first".

Besides, the Scandinavians didn't land on the west coast or the central plains or Central America.

Incorrect. When Leif Erickson came to America, the Indians were already here. The Indians had a hard of enough time. Don't pile on!

Native americans lived in North and South America for thousands of years before any scandanavians or europeans had the technology to travel to and "discover" it.

before those days there were no countries, and people fought over land. then came the beserkers vikings, scandanvians, russians, canadians americans, msouth americans latins, mestizos black, asians, islanders or what ever.

You are ignorant, I suggest you take full advantage of the free educational system that is in place here in America. Pay particular attention in world history, and United States history classes.
Oh, yeah, If you havent got anything intelligent to say, be quiet, You appear foolish when you ask dumb questions like this.

Because we were. This is our birthplace, where we were created, our Garden of Eden. Just as the Whiteman, i.e. Christians have their roots in the Middle East, Garden of Eden, Jerusalem, you get my meaning. The only people that started saying that we came across the Land Bridge thousands of years ago are "scientists" and "historians" who happen to be Whitemen. They say this only to try and justify the taking of our land.
Sorry for the diatribe. Back to your question.
We were!

I am going to smack the next social studies teacher I see for doing a piss poor job of educating the kids on history if there is actually someone out there who has been in a school who actually thinks what the person who posted this question thinks.

We really need to work on keeping the kids awake in class.....
