Lemon juice on dry hair. Put it on a comb and comb it through your hair to get streaks. Go out in the sun for however long you can stand to be out in it, then wash it out.

From http://www.pioneerthinking.com/jcc_lemonjuice.html

Create Blonde Highlights: For a kinder, all-natural alternative to hair dyes and bleach, begin by rinsing your hair with 1/4-cup ReaLemon lemon juice and 3/4-cup water. Sit in the sun to activate the lemon juice's natural bleaching properties.

put A LOT of lemon juice (not the kind in a bottle, make sure it's from actual lemons) on clean, barely damp hair and sit out in the sun for at least two hours. also, a lot of exposure to natural sunlight will lighten your hair over time and bring out any highlights you may already have.

yes lemon juice while in the sun is wonderful run fingers through hair for that high-light effect I use to keep a bottle of lemon juice and water with me while in sun to refresh hair and cool off
Swimming in the pool also does a little with lemons but always wet your hair before getting in pool because your hair will soak up chlorine which we know isn't good for our hair

Never never use sun-in

My sister in law used to rinse her hair with lemon juice after shampooing and rinse it out, and she would put it on when she laid out in the sun or went to the pool.
