If Adam & Eve were the only humans in the Garden of Eden, doesn't that make us all products of incest?

I have been asking this since I was in primary school and no one has ever been able to give me a straight answer.

Wow I guess I really have to go into detail here ... Adam and Eve were the ONLY humans in the Garden of Eden - well, according to the bible. When they were thrown out for eating from the tree of knowledge, they were the only people on the planet. If that is true then WE - humans - are products of them ... and since they were the only humans that means that their children had sex with each other.

Christ on a pogo stick, I didn't think I'd have to go into that much detail ... then again ... some people just can't provide an answer for it so they dismiss it.

thank you for asking this - it is something I always bring up during debates. And if being incestuous is a sin/wrong why would God create that type of situation?!!?

***AND SHE IS NOT ASKING IF ADAM AND EVE WERE SIBLINGS - SHE IS ASKING IF WE ARE *PRODUCTS* OF INCEST*** adam and eve DID have to have kids - and those kids had to have sex inorder to start population the world!! HELLO!

The reason incest is no good now days is not only 'cause it's weird but we are so physically degenerate from the 1rst humans we cause more degeneration from in breeding.The Bible says Adam and Eve had many offspring,not just Cain and Able.Of course they'd have to marry a sister,a niece a second cousin in the begining,but because they lived so long a guy at 200 yrs old (he'd look 35 he's got another 500 yrs to live)could marry a cousin 140 yrs younger than him and she'd be "removed"2 generations.Seth(A&E's3rd kid ) could of been 100 yrs old moved far away never even knew his sister or maybe his sisters daughter who is 55 yrs old.He needs a wife,he comes back to where they live, marries her(beats the hell out of a sheep)check out the math ,they decendants grow by leeps and bounds.Man lived (after the fall)about 900 yrs each generation got less and less because they wern't pefect any more and the species went into decline.At the time of the Flood ,Noah lived 600 yrs,after the flood, it was around 120 yrs. for a long lived person.Not until Moses at least 2000 years(probably more)later did God finally say 'enough is enough,the race is becoming corrupted by incest'.The Egyptians were a mess because of it and the Caananites were also declining sharply.God gave the Caananites 450yrs to stop being corrupt,they didn't that's why he sent Joshua in to wipe them out.By the middle ages we were down to dying at age 45.Not until the 1800s have we steadly increased now to age 75 on average.The 1rst humans(were not cave men, that came after the fall)were perfect,the last ones are far from it,so be healthy.Ther was no disease and pollution until after the fall,and incest would take a 1000 generations to break down the physic.Does that answer it or is no answer good enough?

well, no, not exactly, I'm not going to give you the best answers, I'm sure, but from what I know, adam and eve weren't siblings, they were made to be man and wife. however their children did not marry each other, because in the bible it says that cane left and married someone, however at that point, eve had not had any daughters...I think that part of it is a mystery...then there is the ark. Noah, his wife and his sons were on the ark, but his sons brought their wives...I don't know, and I don't thin anyone really does...but you have an interesting question, but I think that if it were true, it would not be wrong...you know, back then, it was natural to marry cousins and such....but I'll give you thumbs up for a deep thoughted question...hope you find a good answer out there though

It must be remembered,however,that circumstances were different in earlier times.Adam and Eve were created perfect,and the instruction for them "to multiply and fill the earth" would necessarily require that their offspring marry one another and reproduce.(Gen.1:28).But as perfect humans,their children would have been perfect as were their parents.
Even though Adam and Eve sinned and became imperfect,Cain and his brothers and sisters were still so near to physical perfection that the children they produced did not suffer the same adverse effects as do children born of such unions today.Even some 2000 years after-ward God's faithful servant,Abraham married his half sister Sarah,and God did not disapprove(Gen.20:12).It was yet another 450 years or so before God saw fit to provide His nation of Israel a body of laws that forbade incest on the penalty of death(Lev.18:8-17).By that time imperfection had apparently developed to such an extent that no longer was it safe for close relatives to marry.

Yes, if that's how you want to view it. Adam and Eve were not brother and sister, God created both of them separately. But their children married each other, and it went on from there. It was necessary for populating the earth, God did instituted a law to stop this practice of brother and sister marrying with the Israelites.

Adam and Eve may not have been related however in order to the human population to increase it would mean some combination of incestuous intercourse to occur. Whether it was parental - child or between siblings.

But Adam and Eve were incredible beings, and perfect, their offsrping commiting incest doesn't really give their offsprings conditions.

But incest was not a sin untill over 2000 years after they had fallen, when man only lived for 120 years.
