They are quite wonderful dogs. A coworker had two Pembroke Welsh Corgis and I had the pleasure of meeting them. They can be very active, and need lots of exercise. Since they are a herding dog, there may be a problem of the corgis nipping on the kids heels in an attempt to "herd" them, but this can be easily corrected. Since they are a herding dog, they are usually easily trainable and smart. They are just the cutest dogs ever, and are also very affectionate. Just be sure to get your corgi from a reputable breeder or rescue organization, and not from a pet store or newspaper ad.
Hope this helps!

well i have a welsh corgi and i couldn't be happier! he is my first dog and he is very loving! he loves being with people more than anything else. he is great with kids, they just play with him and lay on him and he just loves having all of the attention! he's pretty active, he loves walks and running, if he doesn't get a walk some day he will self excersing by running around the house like crazy. he also loves to play tug-of-war and get chased around the house. he's pretty easy to train, but can be kind of stubborn. i can get him to do almost any trick with a treat except for get wet. i couldn't ask for a better dog, i've had him for five and a half years, since he was a puppy, and love him more than anything! i strongly reccomend pembroke welsh corgis.

Contact the AKC...www.akc.org for a list of breeders in your area. You can also look up the current dog show schedule. Many breeders are more than happy to accomodate an interested party that would like to become better aquainted with the breed. They will give a straight forward view regarding the breed in order to give you the most accurate information. PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM A PET SHOP!!! Many of these puppies come from poor breeding and will not give you the dersired result. These dogs are created for sheer profit with little to no concern for health or temperment.

Sure. (You can do a breed search and get deeper info on them, as well.) They do very well at dog agility. Herding dogs are generally easily trained as they are bred to work closely with people.

i had a welsh pembrooke actually there are 2 kinds the welsh pembrooke and the cardigan, they are the smartest most loving dogs to have .but one thing, they are very attatched to food/ they oftentimes will growl and snarl if your trying to take away a favorite toy or favorite tidbit while they are playing or eating........
and yes our dog went to a professional trainer and he still had those growling issues.......................although he never actually bit anyone........................my dog mana was poisoned by a neighbor (we could never prove it) and although we only had him for 6 years he became a very wonderful part of out family and we miss him dearly.....................................
