If NAFTA came to a stop, would this improve Mexico ?

If not, I imagine, it would at least make it so a visa to work in the U.S would be easier to obtain, or at least a guest worker program that is approved by the voters.

I honestley never thought about how the end of NAFTA, would effect Mexico. I also did not see any information on this subject. I can see it going both ways...

note - I asked this question earlier, and got 3 ok responces. I would like to see some one to put some thought into it.

They say Mexico has a GDP of about 1 trillion dollars. Mexico's also supposed to have a population of about 110 million people.
That divides out as(check me on this) something like 9 grand apiece.

I support the border fence etc. because it will give Mexico a chance to more effectively redistribute some of that GDP instead of just using their poor as an excuse to milk more money out of the United States. This BS has gone on long enough...

It would be a disaster. Numerous factories have been set up along the border, employing thousands of people, to create goods that are sold in the United States. Absent NAFTA, tariffs would render most of these non-competitive in price, and all those people would be out of work.

Prior to NAFTA, tariffs between the U.S. and Mexico were already on the decline, so eliminating NAFTA would probably not have much effect on Mexico.

A lot of the products we use come from Mexico.
We couldn't just stop it.
