It only rattles at high volume. The sub is only rated at 300 watts.

put a blanket around the sub and chech for tears in the sub

sounds like the air volume in the box is incorrect. Usually JBL subs sound great in ported or bandpass boxes, is it a sealed box with no hole for the air to come out? Also, it occured to me that sometimes when the subwoofer is not 100% seated evenly in the box, it will leak air from underneath it then sounds like a rattle noise coming from it.
