It could be for a number of reasons, if he feels like your a friend more than an authourity figure he will be less likely to call you dad or pa. As long as he dosent start disrespecting you and you have a healthy relationship this should not be an issue

He could possibly be made fun of from peers for using such a "childish" moniker. Or he could just feel foolish.
How does he address you? Do you two still have the same relationship? So long as the status of your relationship hasn't changed (in a negative way), it shouldn't be much of an issue.
And just for the record: There is nothing wrong with calling one's father "pa" or "papa". You don't have to be living on a farm to do it either. I'm 19 and call my father "papa". My niece also addresses him this way so does his own wife! The only problem with this, is every so often when I say, "my pa" to other people, they think I'm talking about my grandfather. However, when I say "my ma"...nothing.

Pa? Do you live on a farm?
As kids get older they try to carve out their own niche in the world and as much as I hate to say it, parents just aren't a part of it. Don't worry, when he gets in trouble or needs something, rest assured, you'll hear him calling you Pa again.

This might be because of puberty but u have got to remember that he is growing up. he might be around friends that may not be the best people to hang out with or he feels like its not cool to call u dad anymore. i would sit down and talk to him and not get to upset over it

I don’t know that it is a ‘cultural’ thing… I see it more as a ‘respect’ thing!!!
You are his father, and if you are worthy of his respect, then he should continue to call you ‘Pa’ or ‘Dad’ no matter how old he is.
I am 55 years old, and I still call my mum ‘Mum’… If my dad was still alive, I would call him ‘Dad’… It is a sign of ‘respect’ toward them as my parents!!!

he is finding himself now, things will be somewhat different and will change rapidly for a while. this happens in both genders around this age in some form or another. it will subside if you and your son keep a healthy, strong relationship. its not necessarily all puberty, a lot of things are happening at that age. good luck.
