... that I'm hell-bound? That's not ever an answer to my question. It seems as though Christians almost avoid my questions with "quotes from god".

If anyone asks a Christian a question or disagrees with them, the only answer they know is "you're going to hell".
They are close minded because they were raised in fear of hell themselves and refuse to listen to anyone else, no matter how intellegent your question.

This is just the opinion of a "NO" OK, so do with it as you see fit.

I find very few individuals who do really read the questions posted as they are posted. They read it as they want it to be or as they conclude that you meant to post it. I do not know why such is done, except I guess so that their standard answer they have learned from others or memorized will be of value.

My friend I seldom find individuals with the ability to think and reason when it comes to religious issues if that individual is caught up in an organized religion. Sorry to say it but I find atheists and even agnostics here in Religion and Spirituality have a better ability to reason.

Do see my side, I am a bible nut and have dedicated the past 23 years to full time study of the bible. I have accepted the Fact that Jesus is the only way and that the God of the Bible is my God. And still I must say I would rather reason with an atheist than a so called Christian.

I hope you see that as an amazing statement. I sure do.

So with that do smile, have a great day and always consider the source from which those bible quotes and "go to hell" statements originated. Maybe they just don't know any better OK.

If you ask a Christian a question, even a question challenging Christianity, what kind of answer do you think that your gonna get without quotes from the bible. Christians believe in God and the bible as the word of God. It would be stupid for them to answer without quotes from the bible. That's stupid.

What kind of questions are you asking? If they are related to God, you are going to get a scriptural answer. Duh!

The reason they say your Hell-bound is maybe because they care about you, or maybe some just have a attitude and think your just being cocky.
Me, myself believe that every one will go to Hell, because the word Hell just means grave, and we are all going to die.

What do you expect to receive as responses from Christians? It's what they believe in, what many of their lives dwell upon, and you come along trying to challenge everything they've ever believed in or have been taught. Who are you to just waltz in and challenge such an existence like God and other beliefs of Christianity? The reason some may be claiming you as "hell-bound" is because challenging the belief in God can be considered blasphemy. In addition, of course you are going to get quotes from the bible. It's how they support what they believe in with evidence. Seriously, what do you expect? That is an extremely controversial and diverse subject that you are just stirring up because you have some deluded thought that some devout Christian will agree with you. Why can't people just agree to disagree and accept it?

Well, maybe you got a generic bunch of Christos in here.
Who else would sit up late on a saturday night typing stuff in the pc when they could be out dancing, drinking and having a good time. Gee, I think I just belittled myself.

HAH HAH HAH

SEE, them there christos ain't perfect yet and just cause they can type doesn't mean they are smart either. some of them are so insecure they have to quote the bible cuz they can't' think it through for themselves.

Besides, how can you discredit the bible when in about 600BC Daniel wrote about the coming world empires that were hundreds of years in the future, The description of the man in the dream perfectly fit the empires of Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and finally, the Roman Empire. I don't have the exact text handy but if you ain't too prejudiced you can look it up yourself at http://www.hti.umich.edu/k/kjv/
And if you're too lazy to look it up you don't deserve to know what it says.

You betray yourself. Your profile says you don't like discussing God or religion, Yet you ask questions of Christians about God and the bible. If you don't like the answers, don't ask the questions. And as far as CHALLENGING Christians, is there some sort of trophy you will be awarded for winning a contrived war-of-wits? It seems more like a match on World Wrestling Entertainment - lotsa drama, little substance.

If you sincerely are seeking to know more about God and the bible, you may ask questions in a respectful manner and you'll be pleased to discover that those of us who are Christians will give you an answer, speaking the truth in love. I hope your enmity with God doesn't last much longer - we are in the last of the last days right now. If you don't believe me, go to my 360 page and read some of my blogs, especially one called "MARK OF THE BEAST - Closer than you think." You might be surprised at how much true believers care about you. And I ask you to consider your soul, after reading and may God guide you. I pray in the name of the LORD God that you seek him while he may be found; before it's too late.

Not all Christians are the same, but some, who tend to use only the bible as their proof, seem to be afraid of different belief structures. It's as if their belief structure is so fragile, that if it is challenged, they may suddenly not know what to believe anymore.

Faith is a personal thing -- and in my opinion, when someone tries to "convert" me, or prove to me that their faith is better than anyone else's, all I can do is wonder why they feel they are so superior. Getting "off" message (truly answering the questions you ask) and hammer only on the "point" they are trying to make helps them keep this feeling of superiority, perhaps.

I understand your frustration, but if you believed that a book contained all of the answers to life's mysteries AND was the word of God, you'd likely quote from it, too. That doesn't make it right and it certainly doesn't make it helpful in the least for you, but it may just be the only answers they have. When people think they have all the answers already, it doesn't leave a lot of room for introspection or thoughtfulness.

That's because those were self-proclaimed christians, overzealous but only have a tad of knowledge about Christianity. Other than a few memorized verses here and there they don't know anything interesting even for a modest inquiring mind. You should ask elsewhere(where scholars discuss christianity and religion in general) not in this forum.

There's alot of self proclaimed christians. Would you belive a dope dealer if he said he was a christian, or a theif and murderer? Christians have been taught to stand for what they believe, even to the point where they'll speak words you don't understand, quoting from the bible. It's not about what you know, which is important, but how you live it.

i was wondering about that too. there are a few people on here who post paragraphs from the bible and don't even answer the question at hand. it is fine to quote, but only if you are using it to prove a point
