My family thinks I drink too much Coca Cola (I drink at minimum a 2 liter per day) They think I should switch and drink tea for my caffeine fix. I think tea is just as bad it just lacks the fizz and the great taste. Who is right????

For those of you who advise to drink water, or "do US a favor and drink only water," That wasn't my question. I despise water and I have to force myself to get several glasses in per day.
Also, to wean off the coca cola, what do you do about the HORRIBLE caffeine withdrawal headaches???
By the way, I am NOT fat to those of you who said that also. Coke is my SUBSTITUTE for food for 2 meals a day.

Well, unless you load up the tea with sugar then tea is much more healthier. I don't drink it with anything (milk or sugar). It has about 1/8th of the caffeine in a cup of strong coffee but still stronger than coca cola. Tea is just water and infused tea leaves ~ it has lots of anti-oxidants and can be considered a mild laxative which helps your digestive track. Green tea has been proven to help with weight loss. Tea also counts towards your 8 glasses of water a day whereas coke is too sugary and loaded with other harmful ingredients to really count. If you drink the sugar free kind, there are new reports out that aspartame is actually a poison and drinking large amounts of it can produce health problems. And I am definitely speaking from experience! I used to be addicted to Pepsi and thought it would be better to switch to sugar-free (bad idea!). I drank the same amounts as you and would hardly drink any water actually. It's very addictive.
Try to wean yourself off it slowly ~ tea can be very relaxing and a fun routine throughout your day. Buy only the best if you're not used to the taste (ie. PG Tips, or "English Breakfast") and don't let it steep too long (about 3 minutes). It's one of those things that most ppl "acquire" a taste for, so don't give up on it if you don't like it right away. Iced tea is also very good, but loaded with sugar.... At the very least, try to switch to that for the time being, then move on to hot tea.

Tea is by far, much better for your health. Yes, Colas taste great, but the word "moderation" is the key. As to the fact that tea doesn't have fizz, why not get a little carbonator unit or try various mixes that include tea? Try the link below, some fun mixes!
and yes, water is still # 1.

You are soooooo wrong and they are soooo right. That much carbonation can damage your kidneys with long term consumption. Tea on the other hand had things that are actually good for you, bioflavonoids and antioxidants. Much is made of the benefits of green tea but several studies show that darker teas offer the same nutrients. They all come from the same plants.
Drink the tea plain. If you add sugar then it will just make you fat (like the Coke.) Acquire a taste for the flavors various teas offer you.

Tea... your parents are right... and besides aside from caffeine, coca cola contains a large amount of sugar and too much sugar could develop "diabetes"....
tea isn't so bad when cold... it's like water only with taste.....
and besides too much caffeine and sugar makes a person have bad fats.... which is not healthy and not good at all

Tea is better for you because of all the water. But when it comes to taste stick with the coca cola.

2 liters of regular coca cola a day is a lot of calories. One can has 150 calories, so I'm guessing a whole two liter is your day's fix for calories. If you like fizz and caffiene, you should switch to diet soda. Better yet, if you drink diet red bull, it's 10 calories, has WAY more caffiene, and vitamins too.

drink tea. it has lots of good things in it including anti oxidants, plus it has the caffeine your looking for. Dark soda have dies in them the harm your stomach lining if you drink to much of them. It is hard to cut out the soda so start cutting back like at first drink tea half of the time then coke the other half. I understand about the headaches, they suck, this worked for me I hope It could work for you too.

It doesn't really matter what is better. You could say what is better dying from heat or dying from cold. Even if one is better they are not good for you.Coca Cola would probably be worse and more expensive. I'd try to reduce how much you drink. You don't have to have high caffeine.

Tea is better because it is not carbonated and Coke contains lots of fructose corn syrup, lots of calories. Sweetened tea can contain as many calories as soda though. Coke is fine, just try to drink a little less.
