I can't ask him out for the same reason. Is there a subtle away to do it where not everyone around knows and is there a good way to find out for sure that he doesn't have a girlfriend?

DON'T do it!! I hooked up with a guy at work...we slept together then he dumped me....he ended up being a total @sshole and then i still had to see him every day till i couldn't take it anymore and quit!

I agree with pisces and The_Dude. Tell the guy you wanna go out with him. What's so wrong with that? He'll either say yes or no. I'd love it if a woman would ask me out on a date for a change.
Stop trying to play "chick tricks" with guys. Be upfront and real. If you like the guy TELL HIM. Guys dig that, trust me ;)
