I am American but I could care less what the rest of them think.

I care very much what my fellow Americans think. Some of the hate and fascism that I read on Answers scares me. We are all immigrants or descendants of them, as someone mentioned. Even Native Americans came to this land from Asia---and we all came from somewhere between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers originally.
I can't understand this sudden "hatred" toward illegal immigrants. I don't think that people should be here illegally--I guess that the immigration laws were enacted for some reason--but I don't HATE anyone because they came here. I think that ALL of the people that employ and entice illegal aliens to this country should be prosecuted, and I think that illegal aliens who have established productive lives here should be given amnesty.
Most of the rich people I have worked for in this very rich area of Michigan have illegal nannies, housekeepers, etc. I could never understand this because these employers were the staunchest "law-abiding" Republicans, and they could certainly afford to pay their portion of the Social Security, taxes, etc. if they claimed that someone worked for them. Instead they have brought these people from other countries, paid them under the table, and cheated their government and its people!!! But, for this, the immigrants get blamed???
To the person above me somewhere who said that we all "talk English"...no, we don't. We speak "American" which is a specific bastardization of the original English, (Except in certain "hollers" in places like West Virginia where you can still find Elizabeathen English spoken--very facinating.) But why are you worried about the majority of the American population being "brown"? Even if all of the illegal immigrants were sent back to their own countries, we will still soon have a majority population of brown-skinned people. Are you afraid that when we white people are the minority that we will be treated the way other minorities have traditionally been treated in this "wonderful" country of ours??? Things change--get used to it!!!
Back to the question: Yes, I am very upset about the way many Americans speak and think about minorities, too. Because I'm white, and most other white people assume that I think the same way they do, I hear TONS of racist remarks every week. (Even though, if you ask white Americans, they will tell you that there is no such thing as racial bias in this country, only "reverse discrimination" [of which, there REALLY IS no such thing]) What these loud-mouths don't realize is that I am married to a black man, have 1 white and 1 bi-racial child, and 5 bi-racial grandchildren, and their remarks hurt me and make me angry. My husband's family is made up of professional people, all middle to upper middle class, well educated, and MUCH much more articulate than the average white person.
As far as the Nazi contingent on Answers, lets hope and pray that they are the tiniest of all minorities.

No matter what there are going to be people who hate having immigrants and minorities in this country. Its just a reality. The thing is that they are ignorant because technically we are all immigrants. I care that people feel like this and I wish I could make them think differently but part of the beauty of america is diversity and that includes diversity in opinion whether we agree with it or not.

I'm shocked that you would judge an entire country on what you heard just a couple people say. As an American, I don't hate immigrants or minorities. I do hate ILLEGAL immigrants. I would love to find a way to have some type of work visa. If someone wants to live in our country they have to pay taxes on their wages like the rest of us... its only fair.

Speaking AS an american, I do care, and the laws governing immigration need to be effectively enforced. There's a lot of problems related to immigration, specifically ilLEGAL immigration, and hopefully the enforcement measures that've gone forward so far will start to have a positive and gainful impact on the whole mess, before long.

I dont want anyone who is not supposed to be in this country taking work away from anyone who is leaglly so, yes, I do care about what is not being said and that is get them back home and make they try to come in the correct way. I don't care if you are and immigrant or an illegal minority. You will have all my support if you are here legally.

I do care because I'm sad on how many ignorants exist in the country. And I really get mad when people say that they "Hate" this race or the other, they really don't know the meaning of that word. People from all over the world came to this country to feel free, to have a brighter future and because some came first than others, doesn't give them more rights.
When you see people talk like than and express themselves like that, it really takes us back one phase of evolution, when the human race acted by instinct rather than reason.
People who paved their way in history for us to walk freely today really died for nothing.
People got to stop thinking only for themselves, they should really think of what world we are leaving our future kids.

I've heard immigrants talk about this really being their continent and saying that all of us who are descendents of Europeans should leave. Does that mean all immigrants or minorities think that?
Or are you just racist against Americans? Many of whom ARE minorities?

IF there is a growing anti immigrant sentiment in this country, and I don't think there is ... then it is fueled by the illegal immigrants themselves and their marches and demands .... media wouldn't report it if these people actually were law abiding and didn't come with ridiculous demands about rights, and taking over the country ... media is not interested in reporting ordinary people going about ordinary daily tasks .... personally I have never met a single person who is against LEGAL immigration ....

i have no problem with them as long as they don't think they are better then us . and i dont think they should try to change our country , like America is turning Spanish .. this is America we talk English if you don't like it go home. america should take care of there own people first . so many here are homeless and cant make ends meet and we are sending help to other countrys or helping those from other countrys that are here. doesnt make sence to me.

To be perfectly honest, unless those people are native americans, they're immigrants too. It ticks me off when people have that kind of attitude. Just because your ancestors stole someone else's land doesn't make it yours, nor does it give you the right to look down on people who got here later than your family did.
