Probably, but UPS or FedEx is more convenient... They pick up and deliver to your street address. With Amtrak, you have to go to the station to pick up and deliver.

Indeed you can check baggage as well as carry-on baggage. But, the answer above relative to UPS and Fed Ex is the definite best bet to get the stuff delivered right to where you're going. ahead of your arrival, with out having to worry about it or waste time and energy on it.

Keep only that which you will need to make the trip such as reading material or other diversion, the necessities for personal hygiene. and a variety of your favorite snacks is a good idea as well. Taking steps to ease the stress of travel will make the trip more enjoyable, whatever the mode of transportation.

This is especially true on a cross country train trip such as the one you are taking, where there will be scheduled train connections or unforeseen bus connections due to tardy trains. The peace of mind alone will offset any additional expense.

ya i don't know if amtrak does freight. Greyhound does though, i've used them and its very reasonable.

No, Amtrack doesnt do freight
