I've been getting some odd chest pains recently. First of all, they only occur when I'm hungry, and they generally go away when I eat something. They quickly return though, as if I'm getting really hungry really fast. The best way I can describe the pain itself is like a really intense hunger pain, except not in the stomach - it's more stretching from the bottom of my ribcage in the center of my chest and up. It's accompanied by an infrequent shooting pain on the left side of my chest about 2 inches below my nipple. One last really random symptom, usually when it happens I have to burp/belch a lot, which eases the pain. Suggestions on what this could be? It should be noted that I might have mono, which can result in swelling of the spleen and liver - this might be related.

...

Should probably mention that I've been to a doctor about 12 times in the past 6 months, as well as 4 times in the past 3 weeks. I've had a bunch of blood tests done. The mono is dealt with (as much as it can be), and my blood tests are all excellent.

I'm thinking it's gas as well, given that I had some digestive problems last May (all fixed now, just gotta keep eating fiber) - I just didn't know if gas pain could be that high.

My Mother had a hiadus hernia and her symptoms were very similar to yours. They wouldn't operate because they said they often come back and it is a very painful operation. Incidently, my brother inherited the same thing and has uncontrollable belching quite often. He got tired of the drugs and started taking alternative medicine and his symptoms have disappeared.
