Moms, which do you prefer to shop: yard sales or consignment sales...why?

well I prefer consignment shops for 2 reasons, I am a single mom and I want the best quality I can get for a reasonable price, My girls can have name brand clothes for 1/3 of the mall prices, they still look new, or sometimes still have the tags on.

Both. If one likes to hunt for treasures, Yard sales, charity thrift, and consignment are all important. I have purchased some higher quality furniture and clothing at consignment shops. I have found all kinds of treasures at yard sales and some wonderful items at Hospice thrift and the American Cancer society thrift shops. Good wills in my area are over priced and I don't find the quality items I want, but every once in a while I will find something which makes it worth my time. Thrift shopping is an adventure!

BOTH! I got my italian leather sofas for $200 each (retailed for $1700 each) at a yard sale. I love them to death. Don't know any other gals my age with anytihng comparable :P
I go to consignment stores probably twice a week and find great playskool and fisher price toys for my baby. Some bleach, wait a few hours and scrub with a long rinse--good as new! I've saved hundreds of dollars doing this. Always try to see the potential in your purchase-- a little paint, minor reupholstering, scrub, glue, etc is usually all it takes to restore it to new!

Don't have much time to go to yard sales or consignment shops.. plus the gas prices.. driving around trying to find a bargain .. I just go to ebay and buy gently used clothes in lots.. saves a ton on money and I love getting packages in the mail!!!! :D

I like consignment, especially if you have a good consignment store in your area. They look over everything that comes in carefully, so that you don't have to--a good consignment store usually has some pretty nice stuff. Plus, if your child is anything like mine, he/she grows faster than he/she has time to wear out most clothes. So if you take your nice used stuff and consign it, then when it's time to replace items in your child's wardrobe, you go to the consignment store and voila, you've already got some credit (for the things you consigned that sold)! It's a discount on top of a discount! Oh--AND you get to pat yourself on the back for taking it easy on the environment through this form of recycling.

i visit backyard revenues and flea markets in some circumstances, plenty at the same time as i became youthful, more often than not my mom buys stuff, i recognize flea markets notwithstanding reason they have some unique belongings you cant purchase from shops. we regularly seem for stuff for our domicile like reflects and stuff, or lovable jewlery. i dont study about the great fee reason i regularly basically tag alongside with my mom.

consignment because usually they are still usable and sometimes there is hardly anything wrong. yard sales are such a hassle and i always get lost!

yard sales of course i have 3 kids hand me downs dont hurt the stores hurt .
