If they are registered (picked out patterns for dishes, etc.) at a department store, choose everyday drinking glasses - usually a set of four or six. This is what I do. People generally end up not using their china but will certainly use glasses - having them engraved with the groom's initials, actually etched, is a nice touch. I believe there is a particular style of glass (not their pattern) that allows for etching; you can ask the sales person. Sometimes the store will ship them directly to the bride for a small fee otherwise you can take them to the wedding. Good Luck!

A gift certificate for: a Bed and Breakfast weekend getaway, massages, etc. Tickets to a Broadway show. A wine rack with a couple of 'starter' bottles of nice wine. Crystal beverage glasses. Maid service for a month. If none of these appeal to you, money is always acceptable.

For my wedding a friend gave my husband and I, a crystal hour glass with a wondering poem she had wrote for us. That was the best gift anyone could have ever given us for our marriage. That hour glass is a symbol for so much when it comes to marriage and love. Just an idea.

Answer A- Always get them something from their wedding registry.
Answer B- If their home has a motif (south western, Asian, African, etc.) go to a little store that specializes in that theme and get them something like a lamp, rug or picture. They will be impressed in how much you went out of your way to personalize a gift.
Answer C- Garden Gnome. Everyone needs a Garden Gnome.

Do they have any hobbies? Go camping, hiking, long drives. Get them something that they can do together as a couple. If they like to drink, get them an expensive liquor with some nice glasses. Be creative, gift cards are nice, but they are also really BORING.
