xanax for anxiety and zoloft for depression.

Effexor is used to treat the symptoms of both depression and anxiety... I am on it, along with prozac, seroquel, trazodone and xanax. The medications have helped a bit, but after a year and a half of being on this combination I am still feeling pretty awful :-/

Everyone is different though... talk to your doctor about the specific symptoms you are having. There are many many meds out there that might be of help to you. In the beginning it might be a process of trial and error, but hopefully you will find what works for you relatively quickly.
Good luck!

Since I am not a doctor, I cannot give you any advice as far as medication. As someone who has suffered with anxiety & depression in the past, I can say with certainty, that you should be sure to take vitamins. Anxiety can sometimes be helped with them (esp. if you take a stress vitamin, the combination of nutrients is very helpful). I also drink Celestial Seasonings Tension Tamer tea, which calms me when I am anxious. Drink 2 cups if you have to.

Yoga is extremely helpful with anxiety and depression. I am not a fitness fanatic, but can say when I was having a hard time, the classes were very helpful in making me feel better.

There is also a book called: From Panic to Power by Lucinda Bassett. She is a sufferer as well, and the book was incredibly useful in helping me deal with and get over the worst aspects of my anxiety. Not that I'll ever be cured, mind you, but I live without medication, and had developed coping skills so that I can enjoy my life.

And that's all that really counts, isn't it?

There are different medications out there for different reasons and you will not react to them the same as the next person. I have anxiety coupled with depression and they had me on 3 different meds until we found one that worked well and didn't make me gain weight. I was on Buspar, Paxil and finally Wellbutrin. I would suggest seeing a licensed psychiatrist. They know all about the medications and can also write prescriptions. Plus also, they can provide therapy that can help you learn to deal with your anxiety and depression. I was on meds for over 6 years, but now I am med free. I still have anxiety and depression, but I have learned to manage it. General physicians in my experience, don't have the necessary knowledge on all the medications out there plus they have no clue on how to help you learn how to manage your condition.

First you would need to speak with a doctor to see if it is nothing physical. From there if you need further treatment, you'd be referred to a psychiatrist, who would determine if you even need medication. Some depressions can be cured through different therapies. If medication is an option, the psychiatrist will start you out with the smallest doses of the med he best thinks will work in your case. You may have to increase or lower dosage, or switch meds until one that is right for you is found. Good luck.

lexapro or zoloft and buspar for anxiety.

lexapro has the least amount of side effects and i dont know if it could be combined with buspar for anxiety.

zoloft and buspar together are a good match for some.

also, try to find a doctor who may know what to test for in terms of disease, since sometimes viral infections can cause an imbalance in the chemistry and how they relate in the brain.

do not allow your doctor to prescribe anything that is addicting!

Lexapro is the best I've found for me. It helps with both anxiety and depression. It helps me. Talk to your doctor and you and he can decide which is better for you.

NO XANAX!! If you have honestly tried everything and must medicate, Clonazipam. No noticable side effects.
Xanax causes depression.

You should seek advice from a doctor for your medications. However, Lexapro is one of the most common medications for this.
