5 of 11 who robbed a Jersey City jewelry store have been identified and one arrested.
Gajewski got access to photos of about 40 known Romanian diversion thieves in the database of the National Association of Bunco Investigators and witnesses picked out five as being among the Newark Avenue thieves, he said.
They are thought to be part of an organization that is about 100 strong, Gajewski said.
When the group entered the country illegally about a year ago [through Mexico] they were picked up by immigration officials and all had their mugshots taken before they were released, pending a court appearance, which they skipped out on, Gajewski said. "

prancing - I am against illegal immigration and because of that I read immigration news. Jewelry theft per se isn't my focus. I thought Gypsies sounded enchanting before I read the article, and even then seems exotic. Sorry if I bored you!

Romanian gypsies is one of the groups that have totally over run Britain ... Romania themselves have declared them undesirables, and they are moved out of Germany and neighboring countries whenever they are found ... they tend to go to Britain, which is about as open in their immigration policy as the United States ...

I think there will always be those criminals who come here only seeking to exploit the goodness of this country and steal from unsuspecting individuals...When you live in a democracy you run the risk of people abusing the system and freedoms....If a criminal commits a crime here and they are illegal, they should go to jail, period, no exceptions....
