I like getting involved with civil rights issues, voting rights, environmental issues, etc.

I'm currently volunteering at a Legal Clinic, helping people expunge their records.

I'm also planning a volunteer trip to New Orleans to work with Habitat for Humanity.

In the past, I did a lot of work with young children and the poor.

Volunteering is great - more people should do it! It doesn't have to take tons of time; you can just do a one-time thing (ex: volunteer at a soup kitchen or to ring that annoying bell for the Salvation Army).

Good question!

Helping the elderly. I feel for them because they are left a alone a lot. I get bored and lonely when I am alone can you imagine feeling the same way but not having no friends or family with you and not only that a lot of seniors are sick and can not walk or be outside for long periods of a time. They just enjoy conversation seniors are a whole lot wiser than what we are they have already lived what we are living and are very good for advice and the stories they tell are so interesting.

My family is very active in Special Olympics since my son is an athlete. We have worked at our regional spring track/field meet for the past several years

I am also very involved in our local Girl Scouts, even though my daughter is now in college. I saw the difference being in a troop made in the lives of all the girls that were in my troop over the 10 years I was a leader. And if scouting is to continue, then there needs to be a strong, active support system for the adults who volunteer their time and talents to lead the girls. That is what I am currently involved in--the support and education of the adults who lead.

I volunteer for Big Brothers. I find it rewarding to help a kid with no father to understand what it's all about and to help give him a fighting chance in life.
