Very interesting question... Keep in mind this only goes for occasional hiccups (Singultus) if your hiccups persist for more than 3 days you should visit your doctor

The quickest way is vagal stimulation, which is easily done crouching and tightening your abs without breathing and at the same time squishing your eyeballs with your eyes closed (weird but it works) with this maneuver you stimulate cranial nerves III and X which are parasympathetic

Another way is by pulling your tongue as outward as possible (normally it can't be done by 1 person) so that cranial nerve IX can be stimulated which also has a parasympathetic component

Eat a heaping teaspoon of granulated sugar, straight from the spoon. In the 30 years I've used it, I've never once known it to fail. Gets rid of hiccups every time.
