To be a true follower, most religions require tangible acts of charity (eg Islam, Christianity, Buddhism etc). If your religion preaches charity- what act of kindness have you done recently?

If none, how do you justify your lack of real compassion against the teachings of your faith?

plenty done

but in my religion we are told to do it in secret because that way God will see it in secret and will reward us publicly one day

answering this question fully could sow the seeds of wanting to gain the praise of people as being a motivation rather than in just doing something because it is right

hence i cant give you a proper answer to your question - not because i lack compassion but because of the privacy thing OK?

Easy, selective emphasis on the teaching that support ones personal values such as greed, envy, spite, lust, gluttony, etc.
For example, I can eat like a pig and still believe that Christ is my savior and go to heaven.
I can covet my neighbors fine honey of a wife but Christ will forgive me and I'll still go to heaven.
That one thing, that only thing is all I need to worry about. All I have to do is believe that Christ is my savior and all is forgiven.
Oh yeah, all I have to do is give the church a little of the extortion money and a 10% of the hit money and the Father will pray for me and light a candle and tell the congregation what a great guy i am.
I might even encourage the Rossi to send his kid to church to be an altar boy. We all have to make sacrifices.

I gave to g2bay. This is a social networking site where people help each other make and save money. People post their photos, blogs, news, product and service reviews and talk about the stocks they own. Every user gets a Million Dollar Page where advertisers pay to find the right customers. The more hits you get on your page, the more money advertisers will give you. You can specify why you need the money and people can either donate it or buy ads on your Million Dollar page.

I coach Special Olympic athletes, I volunteer with the church youth group, I give money to my church to support missionaries in 10 nations, I assist the elderly in my community (cut grass, buy groceries, etc.), and so on. I do whatever I can.

Beware of practising your piety before others in order to be seen by them; for then you have no reward from your Father in heaven.
