I would like to know if I should be concerned? I plan to take her to the doctors to have them look at it but I just wanted to prepare myself in case it is serious.

Stop worrying... You would scare your kid.
Could be a simple fungal infection (which would go away with medications) or a sunburn (which will decrease with sunscreens).
All the best... I am sure your daughter has nothing serious.

Is she fair-skinned?? This happened to me..It was due to the sun.
