Water is an absolute necessity to your body's function. 60% of the population in the US is dehydrated at some point throughout the day, and 90% of those people are perpetually dehydrated. EVERY organ in your body suffers from lack of water. When you feel thirsty, it is too late, you are already dehydrated.
To "get in the groove" of regular water intake, I have one thing I do every morning. I keep a 16 ounce cup of room-temp distilled water at my bedside. AS SOON as I wake up, I put my feet on the ground and drink the whole thing down. Believe me, it doesn't take long for your body to get used to it, and you can drink the whole thing down without a prob. You will find with this, that your upper-intestine is hydrated throughout the whole day, helping to flush toxins through your body faster, and absorbing less fat. Plus, water is a 10 times better drink to wake you up than coffee (it is also the best thing to drink to fall asleep as well).
During the day, you might try putting a little lemon in the water. Don't opt for 'flavored' waters, as they contain sugars that you are trying to work against - it defeats the purpose.
I opt only for distilled water, and you will find that it has a slightly sweeter, airy taste than drinking/purified water, etc.
Get in the groove, and you won't regret it. Your eyes will be sharper, your hair will be healthier, you will be able to digest food better, and the list goes on and on....

What are your fav flavors? You can get mini single serving packets of flavoring to put in water to make it better. I think brands like crystal light etc have single serving size pouches for bottled water.

Another method would be to drink carbonated water, like seltzer. You can add sugar free syrups to seltzer to make low cal Itallian sodas. Torani has great sugar free syrups in LOTS of flavors.

Lastly you could try a reminder of some sort. Add a timer to your comp to go off every other hour or so. When it goes off, go get a drink of water.

You could try drinking flavored water. Iced water seems to taste better to me for some reason. Have a bottle of water at your desk or work space if possible. You'll find yourself sipping at it without even thinking about it. Some other things to help motivate you: water is essential for optimum brain function, helps with metabolism, digestion, etc.

For one, buy bottled water, keep it with you all the time. Eventually, when you are thirsty, you will drink the bottled water. Try the new crystallight packets that you add to water..comes in several flavors...But use bottled water, tastes much better.

It's something you just need to do...you can get very sick if you get dehydrated repeatedly. I was in the same boat and I found that if I drink ice cold water I drink more...adding lemon or orange slices helps some people.

Try flavored water. I can't hardly drink plain water. It's so blah. I drink Propel or Fruit H2O.

Hope this helps!

Flavor it up. Use lemon or lime juice, there are many flavoring agents from Crystal-lite such as lemonaid, orange, tea, raspberry that have less than 5 calories per packet.
