Your thought process is good, just wrong for a limited war. In a true WW3 senario, yes we would kill space communications. We also would degrade GPS navigation to non military users. As far as whos birds are they? I would think they are non US comunication birds. I don't think Verizon or other US telephone companies service that area much.
Like I said good idea, just overkill for the job at hand.

The satellites they use are hacked communications satellites. The same ones that keep all cell phones, satellite TV and some Internet servers able to send and receive. They are owned by telecommunications companies.

Do you have a cell phone and do you use it? Have you made any long distance calls? Think about it. Do you want your tax dollars used to pay millions for one satellite? The terrorists don't put the satellites up. And they won't be the ones wanting and getting recompense for any that are knocked down.

We can ! But for some strange reason they are the same ones that allow us to communicate. What do you think ? That the " terrorists " have their own satellites ? How do they get them up there ? Does NASA put them up there just because they're such nice guys ? Jeeez ! !

No problem.
Errrr.....except we would lose our cable TVs, half of our communication capabilities, along with surveillance, weather tracking, GPS navigation, etc...etc.......
We all bounce our communications off these babies. It's kind of like the war itself - if we knew they had a favorite satellite or if we knew which ones they used and so forth.
Anyway, as long as they use 'em, at least we know of one place we can monitor them.

Sure we can. Hell just write a letter to Hillary Clinton asking her to propose that in a bill to congress.
